TMV MA (Sanskrit Parangat) FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between M.A. Sanskrit (Parangat) and a regular M.A. Sanskrit? Is the degree equivalent?
Ans. "Parangat" is the TMV-specific nomenclature for its M.A. in Sanskrit, meaning "one who has mastered." It is a full-fledged 2-year postgraduate degree (M.A.) recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and equivalent to any M.A. Sanskrit degree from a recognized university. Graduates are eligible for UGC-NET, SET, and PhD admissions just like any other M.A. Sanskrit holder. The programme is offered under the Shri Balmukund Lohia Centre of Sanskrit and Indological Studies, which has a strong research tradition.
Ques. I am a B.Com/B.Sc. graduate with no Sanskrit background. Can I apply for M.A. Sanskrit (Parangat) at TMV?
