D. Y. Patil University was established in the year 2005. D.Y. Patil Education Society is the sponsoring society of the University, which is located at Kolhapur, Maharashtra. This college was initially affiliated to the Shivaji University, Kolhapur and later on affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. The Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development, on the recommendation of UGC (University Grants Commission), has accorded the Deemed to be University status to D. Y. Patil Education Society (DYPES) consisting of D.Y. Patil Medical College, Kolhapur.
At present, the college offers a number of Medical courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and doctoral level to the candidates who aim for a career in the Medical field. In order to undertake the frontier level research in the field of medical science, the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research is established in the University.

DY Patil Education Society (DYPES) MBBS and B.Sc (Nursing) Admission 2024
DY Patil Education Society offers MBBS degree at the Undergraduate level for a duration of five and a half years. At undergraduate level, the college also offers Bachelor’s degree in the field of Nursing, which is of a period of four years. Post Basic B.Sc programme is also provided by the college for which the duration period is two years.
Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology or any other elective subjects with English at a level not less than core course of English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on education. All or any such examination must be recognized by the University for the purpose of admission.
Admission to the MBBS course is through NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

- The candidate shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December, of the year of admission to the MBBS course

DY Patil Education Society (DYPES) MD and MS Admission 2024
The college also offers Postgraduate Medical Courses like MD and MS degrees under various specializations. Both MD and MS programs are offered with the duration of three years.
A candidate applying for these courses must have completed the MBBS degree recognized by Medical Council of India.
Eligible candidates will have to appear in NEET PG conducted by the National Board of Education (NBE) in order to get admission to the MD/MS programs.

DY Patil Education Society (DYPES) PG Admission 2024
In addition with MD and MS programs, D.Y.Patil college offers Master’s degree in the fields of Medical Science and Nursing with the duration period of two years. It also offers PG Diploma courses with few specialization subjects, which is also offered for a period of two years.
In order to seek admission into any of the PG programs, a candidate should have passed M.B.B.S Examination from a recognized medical college and should have obtained final registration either from the Medical Council of India, New Delhi or Maharashtra Medical Council or concerned State Medical Council after completion of one year rotating internship training.
Eligible candidates will have to appear in NEET PG conducted by the National Board of Education (NBE) in order to get admission to the PG programs.
