Ques. What research areas are available in the Ph.D. (Medicine) program?
Ans. The Ph.D. (Medicine) program offers research opportunities in various specialization areas including internal medicine, clinical pharmacology, medical microbiology, pathology, and translational medicine. Faculty members are specialized in these areas and can guide research projects based on student interests and institutional research priorities.
Ques. What are the career opportunities after completing Ph.D. in Medicine?
Ans. Graduates can work as medical researchers and clinicians in hospital setups, medical research centers, and academic institutions. Other opportunities include faculty positions in medical colleges, research scholar positions in medical institutes, consultant roles in pharmaceutical companies, and opportunities to establish specialized medical research centers. Many graduates also pursue postdoctoral fellowships in international medical research institutions.
Ques. Is the PhD MET mandatory for all applicants?
Ans. The PhD MET is mandatory for most applicants. However, it is exempted for GATE qualified candidates and applicants with UGC-NET qualification (Assistant professorship level) who possess valid score cards. These candidates can directly proceed to the interview stage.
Ques. What is the minimum duration of the Ph.D. program?
Ans. The minimum duration for the full-time Ph.D. program is 3.5 years (3 years 6 months) from the date of joining/registration. However, the maximum duration cannot exceed 6 years. Extensions beyond the minimum duration incur additional fees of INR 7,500 per semester.
Ques. What research facilities and resources are available for PhD students in Medicine?

Ques. Can I pursue Ph.D. while working as a Research Assistant or Junior Research Fellow?
Ans. During the Ph.D. course, you are not allowed to join another new project as RA/JRF/SRF unrelated to your Ph.D. research area. However, if you are selected as RA/JRF/SRF in a project related to your Ph.D. research area, you must apply to CDS for switchover approval through your guide, co-guide, HOD, and HOI.
