IIIT Bangalore MS admissions are done on the basis of written test scores. The test is conducted by the institute itself. Candidates applying with GATE scores are exempted from attending the written exam. For some specializations, the institute also considers the work experience of the candidate.

• Candidates with a Master’s degree in any of the social sciences are eligible to apply for the Master of Science Research.
• Or candidates with a 4 years Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, Maths/ Statistics (B.E., B.Tech. or any other equivalent) can apply for the Master of Science by Research program.
• Candidates should have a valid score in GATE, JRF, UGC-NET, or GRE along with their applications. Candidates without the score can also apply.
• For some of the specializations, work experience in the IT industry is desirable
• Shortlisted candidates will have to take a written examination at IIIT Bangalore when they are called for the interview.

IIIT Bangalore MS Course Details

The course’s normal minimum duration is 4 semesters and the normal maximum duration is 5 academic years. However, in some special cases, the course can be completed within the normal minimum duration and in some cases, the course can exceed the normal maximum duration. In those cases, the student has to consult with the thesis supervisor and may request the Senate to consider the early completion of or extension to the program, respectively.

IIIT Bangalore MS Fees

IIIT Bangalore MS fee is INR 64,000 per semester from the academic year 2023-24. The total fee for the program amounts upto INR 2,56,000. Students pursuing the program can pay the fee till the submission of thesis.

The revised fees is 19% more than the previous fees charged by the institute. Till 2021, IIIT Bangalore charged INR 53,500 per semester. 

IIIT Bangalore provides hostel facilities to students pursuing MS by Research. The estimated hostel and fee charges are given below:

• Hostel accommodation and allied charges: INR 39,000 per semester
• Mess Charges: INR 28,800 per semester
• Medical Insurance Premium Charges: INR 2000 (per year)
• Caution deposit of Library: INR 4000 (One time)

IIIT Bangalore MS (By Research) Scholarship

IIIT Bangalore MS Scholarship is provided to students pursuing full-time Research program. A fellowship of INR 20,000 is give every month to such students. For students pursuing PhD, fellowship of INR 38,500 is given every month till the completion of the comprehensive Exam. IIIT Bangalore also provides INR 43,500/ month for 3 years after completion of comprehensive exam.
