NFSU MBA FAQs
Ques. Is CAT the only way to get admission into NFSU MBA Cyber Security, or is there any other route?
Ans. For AY 2026-27, admission to MBA Cyber Security at NFSU is based on CAT 2025 scores and/or the percentage obtained in the qualifying graduate degree. The NFAT (National Forensic Admission Test) has been discontinued for MBA programmes from 2026-27 onwards. 50% of seats are filled through CAT scores and the remaining 50% through merit based on qualifying degree percentage. Candidates must apply separately on the NFSU portal even if they have a valid CAT score.
Ques. What is the actual scope of the MBA Cyber Security programme at NFSU - is it more technical or management-oriented?
Ans. The programme is a blend of both. The first two semesters cover management fundamentals (Principles of Management, Managerial Economics, Accounting for Managers) alongside technical subjects like Networking Fundamentals and Digital Forensics. Semesters 3 and 4 become more specialised with subjects like Cyber Security Governance, Malware Analysis, Vulnerability Assessment, and Penetration Testing. Graduates are equipped for managerial roles in cybersecurity teams rather than purely technical roles, making them suitable for positions like CISO, GRC Manager, or Cyber Risk Analyst.
Ques. What kind of companies recruit from NFSU MBA Cyber Security and what are the typical salary packages?
Ans. Based on the 2025 placement data, the MBA Cyber Security programme at NFSU has a 90% placement rate. Companies like Deloitte, Salesforce, and Colgate have recruited from the batch. Typical job roles include SOC Analyst, VAPT Engineer, GRC Analyst, and Cyber Security Auditor. The average package ranges from Rs. 8-10 LPA, with the highest package for the MBA batch reaching Rs. 16 LPA in 2025.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation available for MBA students at NFSU Gandhinagar, and what are the charges?
Ans. NFSU Gandhinagar does not provide on-campus hostel facilities for PG students. However, the university maintains an empanelled list of off-campus hostels near the campus. For AY 2025-26, the approximate hostel fee is Rs. 75,000 per semester for an AC room and Rs. 56,000 per semester for a non-AC room. Students can also find private PGs and flats in the locality. The hostel list is published on the NFSU website before the start of each academic year.
Ques. Can a non-technical graduate (e.g., BBA or B.Com) apply for MBA Cyber Security at NFSU?
Ans. No. Unlike most MBA programmes, the MBA Cyber Security at NFSU has a specific technical eligibility requirement. Applicants must have a BCA, B.E., B.Tech., or B.Sc. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT, ICT, Cyber Security, or Electronics and Communication, OR any graduate with a specialisation in Computer Science, IT, Computer Application, or Cyber Security. A general BBA or B.Com graduate without any computer science specialisation would not be eligible for this programme.
Ques. What is the difference between MBA Cyber Security and M.Sc. Cyber Security at NFSU - which one should I choose?
Ans. Both programmes are offered at NFSU Gandhinagar but cater to different career goals. The M.Sc. Cyber Security (tuition fee Rs. 90,000/semester) is more technically intensive and is admitted through CUET-PG, making it suitable for students who want to pursue deep technical roles or research. The MBA Cyber Security (tuition fee Rs. 75,000/semester) is admitted through CAT and combines management skills with cybersecurity, making it ideal for those targeting managerial, governance, or consulting roles in the cybersecurity domain. If your goal is a leadership or business-facing cybersecurity role, MBA is the better fit; for hands-on technical work, M.Sc. is more appropriate.
