Assam University B.Tech Agricultural Engineering FAQs

Ques. Is B.Tech Agricultural Engineering from Assam University, Silchar a good career choice, and what is the scope after graduation?

Ans. B.Tech Agricultural Engineering from Assam University has decent scope, especially for students interested in government jobs and the agri-tech sector. Graduates can work with ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research), state agriculture departments, PSUs like IFFCO and KRIBHCO, and companies like Mahindra (farm equipment), Amul, and food processing firms. The Northeast region has significant agricultural activity, making this degree relevant locally. However, on-campus placement rates are 20-40%, so students should also prepare for GATE (for M.Tech/PSU jobs) or government competitive exams alongside their degree.

Ques. What is the mandatory agricultural training mentioned for B.Tech Agricultural Engineering students at Assam University?

Ans. After the second semester, B.Tech Agricultural Engineering students at Assam University are required to undergo a mandatory paid agricultural training course. This training is conducted at various agricultural institutes across India and is designed to give students hands-on exposure to farming practices, farm machinery, and field operations. The training involves additional costs beyond the regular fee structure, and students should budget for travel and accommodation expenses. The department facilitates the placement of students at recognized training institutes.

Ques. How many seats are available for B.Tech Agricultural Engineering at Assam University, Silchar, and what is the category-wise distribution?
