Which would be better for a B.Tech in mechanical engineering: IIT Hyderabad or IIT Guwahati? Why?

Although both IIT Hyderabad and IIT Guwahati are excellent engineering institutes, my knowledge is limited to the BTech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Hyderabad as my sister is a recent pass out of the same. Research: IIT Hyderabad in general and its Mechanical branch specifically focuses on invention and innovation. The research culture at IIT Hyderabad is stronger than many older IITs even. IIT Hyderabad is known globally for MS and Ph. Ds placements. The new IIT tag: Being one of the new IITs, it lacks the credibility of the IIT tag. However, it’s the contrary. Being new, it guarantees better facilities and well-equipped labs. The mechanical department has been upgraded with equipment worth 70 crores over the last few years. The Institute has one of the best research environments in the country. Culture: At IIT Hyderabad you have to learn to master balancing your extracurriculars alongside your academics. You cannot afford to lose on any kind of experience that IIT Hyderabad has to offer. The exams are tough and they create attendence app
The exam timimgs somtimes are too odd some times exams happen at around 10pm

as i am general stuent my fee was 1.61 laks in first semister and 1.4 lakhs in second semister .for 4 years it gonna be 12 lakhs including hostel and mess fee.for other caste people they get benefits like they have to pay only hostel fee which is around 30k per semister

As i am general I don't have a scholarship but the first term fee is around 1.6 laks and 2nd sem is around 1.4 lakhs those who get a scholarship they have to pay only the hostel fee the SC and st people are more benefited as they have to pay only histel fee which is just 31k per semister

Life at iith

When the tuition fee increases it effects the students who are financially not stable. Maybe more than 100000 the complete cost of our education per year. Many scholarships are offered for the students it depends on the eligibility of the students.

Iith life

My tution fee is 100000. Hostel and mess fee together are 43000. I have applied for a loan in the sbi bank in the college. The loan is vidyalakshmi which offers a loan of 8 lakhs for the course period with no interest. I also applied for the fee remission of 2/3rd of my tution fee which is offered for students with annual income below 5 lakhs per annum .

Experiencing Life in IIT Hyderabad

Some exams are difficult and we dont get as much as we have expected

The tuition fees is rather constant but it is a bit much considering my financial status and since I belong to general category I don't have any reservations and am not eligible for most of the scholarships. The complete cost of my education would be nearly 1200000 at the end of 4 years. I have no taken any jobs as I'm still in btech

Campus life and placement opportunities: We are having the best course curriculum with planned courses for each year

I can say IIT Hyderabad fees is a bit higher when compared to remaining colleges.For each semester we have 1 lakh as tution fees.We also have hostel fees approximately forty seven thousand.so,total we should pay 17 lakhs for four years in BTECH.One can apply for National Scholarship if he/she is eligible for it.He/She can also avail education loan with vidya laxmi scheme.IIT Hyderabad offers lot of internships for students with considerable stipend amount.

Too difficult exams and not much notes provided by faculty
Self learning becomes more important that what is taught in the cirriculum

The fee structure includes tuition fees, hostel fees, mess fee and other facility fees. It is quite reasonable that there is a tuition fees . There are scholarships available but only for those with a very low income. There aren't a lot opportunities for campus employment.

Review

Very expensive institute given that it is run by the government. For general category it reaches upto 3 LPA with no scholarship if parental income is above 8LPA. There is no payment for being a Teaching Assistant.
