Entrance Exam Details

The primary entrance exam for B.Tech admission at GITAM is the GAT (GITAM Admission Test). The GAT exam for B.Tech and engineering programs follows this pattern:

Candidates with valid scores in national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main, AP EAPCET, TS EAPCET, or SAT may be exempted from GAT as per eligibility criteria. Merit-based scholarships are awarded based on GAT performance, with better scores securing higher scholarship percentages.

Eligibility Criteria

A minimum of 50% or 5.0 CGPA aggregate marks in Intermediate or 10+2 examination from a recognized Central or State Board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects is required.

Students scoring between 50-60% must meet at least one of the following criteria: (a) Score over 42% (85/200) in GAT and over 75% in X Standard, (b) Score over 55% (110/200) in GAT, or (c) Score over 85% in X Standard. Such students must sign a waiver form if companies require more than 60% in Intermediate or 12th grade for placements.

Candidates must have qualified in GAT (GITAM Admission Test) or possess valid scores in accepted national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main, AP EAPCET, TS EAPCET, or SAT.

Admission Process

Step 1: Online Application - Register on the official GITAM admission portal (apply.gitam.edu) with valid email and mobile number. Fill in personal, academic, and entrance exam details. Select B.Tech AI & ML as the preferred course and Visakhapatnam as the campus. Upload required documents and pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1,200.

Step 2: Entrance Test - Appear for the GAT exam on the scheduled date (March 28-29, 2026, or any other available date through August 31, 2026). The exam is conducted online at GITAM centers.

Step 3: Personal Interview - Shortlisted candidates based on GAT performance will be called for a personal interview to assess aptitude and subject knowledge.

Step 4: Merit List and Counseling - Merit lists are prepared based on GAT scores and academic performance. Participate in counseling (online/offline) to confirm program and campus preferences. Seat allotment is based on merit and availability.

Step 5: Document Verification and Fee Payment - Submit original documents for verification. Pay the tuition fee within the given deadline through the admission portal. Scholarship candidates must complete required formalities. Admission is confirmed only after fee payment and document verification.

Merit-Based Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded based on GAT performance and academic merit. The scholarship slabs for 2026-27 are as follows:

To continue receiving merit scholarships in subsequent years, students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 8.0.

Other Scholarships Available

Employee Children Scholarships: 60%, 40%, and 20% scholarships are available for children of GITAM employees.

Loyalty Scholarships: 10% scholarships for alumni children, children of retired GITAM employees, real siblings, and spouses of GITAM employees.

Sports Scholarships: 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, and 15% scholarships for students with sports excellence.

Need-Based Scholarships

To be eligible for need-based scholarships, the combined annual income of both parents/guardians must be less than 12 lakhs. Candidates admitted through merit scholarships in slabs of 75%, 60%, 40%, 25%, and 15% with family income below prescribed limits are eligible for additional need-based scholarships.

Accommodation Scholarships

Students awarded need-based scholarships after merit scholarships receive an additional 20% scholarship for hostel fees. Students awarded 75% and 100% merit scholarships also receive the same percentage in hostel and food charges.
