GMIT: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 6 Reviews

The admission process at the college requires candidates to take the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET), with ranks based on KCET and PU exam scores. Admission is through a counseling process, with a cutoff rank around 32,000. In 2012, a rank of approximately 30,000 secured a mechanical branch seat in the fourth round. Admission involves document verification and fee payment to the Karnataka Examination Authority, with 2019 fees at 64,000 INR (government) and 33,000 INR (college).

Faculty are mostly PhD holders, offering high-quality education with a focus on core subjects, although less emphasis is placed on attendance and assignments. For KCET admissions, the annual course fee is 41,000 INR plus a 1,000 INR exam fee, with seat fees at 55,000 INR and additional college fees of 30,000 INR. Payment seats cost 1.35 lakh INR, and all fees must be paid at the academic year's start, with online payment options available.

The college has a placement rate of about 56%, with 250 out of 450 students placed and 228 offers in 2016. Around 60% of students secure placements through campus drives with participation from about 12 companies. While the college doesn't offer direct internships, it supports students in pursuing external opportunities and conducts skill-enhancing workshops. No direct scholarships are available, but the college guides students in applying for government scholarships and education loans, providing necessary documentation for bank loans.
