- Base tuition: £14,900 to £21,300 (₹19.26 to ₹27.54 Lakhs) per year. Application fee: £34.50 (₹4,460) via UCAS for UG, none for direct PG.

London South Bank University Application Deadlines
London South Bank University runs two main entry windows each year, September (its primary intake, where most programs open) and January (primarily postgraduate). Undergraduate international students apply through UCAS, the UK’s central undergraduate platform, while postgraduate applicants apply directly through the LSBU International Portal. Deadlines below are drawn from the official LSBU how-to-apply page and the UCAS 2027 entry calendar.
LSBU’s primary intake for Indian students is September (September 2027 in the current cycle) — most programs open here.
| Intake | Level | App Opens | Deadline | App Fee | Portal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| January 2027 (Spring) | PG (Taught + Research) | Open (rolling since August 2026) | Rolling; indicative close 15 November 2026 | No fee | LSBU International Portal |
| September 2027 (Primary intake) | UG (via UCAS) | 1 September 2026 (opened) | 13 January 2027 (equal consideration) | £34.50 (₹4,460) | UCAS |
| September 2027 (Primary intake) | PG (Taught) | Autumn 2026 (rolling) | Rolling; indicative close 1 August 2027 | No fee | LSBU International Portal |
| September 2027 (Primary intake) | PhD / Research | Rolling year-round | Rolling; scholarship rounds align with September start | No fee | LSBU Doctoral College |
| September 2026 | PG (Direct) | Closed | 1 August 2026 (Closed) | No fee | LSBU International Portal |
Two application fees apply in practice. UCAS collects a single £34.50 (₹4,460) fee that covers all five UG choices for the 2027 entry cycle; LSBU itself charges no separate application fee for undergraduate or postgraduate applications. Rolling PG windows mean earlier applications lead to earlier CAS issuance and more visa runway — plan on applying at least 4 to 5 months before your intake month.
Planning note: UCAS opened for 2027 entry on 1 September 2026, so Indian undergraduate applicants can submit any time before 13 January 2027 and remain in the equal consideration pool.
London South Bank University Eligibility for Indian Students
Eligibility at London South Bank University is set at institution level with per-program overlays. LSBU follows a widening-participation approach, meaning it admits Indian applicants who meet the stated floors rather than filtering on prestige metrics. This section covers academic minimums and English language requirements only — paperwork is listed separately in the Documents Required section.
Academic floors for Indian applicants:
- UG general entry: Class XII with an aggregate of 65% or above from CBSE, ICSE, or a recognised state board.
- PG taught entry: A three or four-year Bachelor’s degree at 55% or above from a UGC-recognised university, in a relevant discipline.
- MBA entry: A Bachelor’s degree at 55% or above plus at least two years of post-graduation professional work experience.
- PhD entry: A relevant Master’s degree with Merit or Distinction (a strong first-class Bachelor’s may also be considered with a research proposal).
LSBU accepts several English proficiency tests. The floors are institution-wide; some Health, Nursing, and regulated professional programs sit higher.
| Test | UG Minimum | PG Minimum | MBA Minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 6.0 overall (no band under 5.5) | 6.5 overall (no band under 6.0) | 6.5 overall (no band under 6.0) |
| TOEFL iBT | 80 | 90 | 90 |
| PTE Academic | 50 | 59 | 59 |
| Duolingo English Test | 105 | 115 | 115 |
London South Bank University IELTS Waiver for Indian Students
Indian applicants can bypass the standard English test with a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter if their Bachelor’s degree was taught and examined entirely in English, at a recognised Indian university, within the last two years. The MOI letter must be issued on university letterhead, name the medium as English, and cover the full duration of the degree. Acceptance is at LSBU’s discretion and does not apply to Home Office SELT-regulated programs (Nursing, Midwifery, some Health programs). Applicants who fall short of the IELTS minimum by up to one band can enrol on the LSBU pre-sessional English course, running for 6 to 20 weeks before the September intake, which grants conditional progression on completion.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official LSBU page for your chosen program before applying.
London South Bank University PG Programs and Scores
Postgraduate taught programs at LSBU span Business, Computing, Engineering, Built Environment, Health, and Social Sciences. Below are commonly-chosen PG programs for Indian applicants, with duration, minimum academic eligibility, and English language floor from each program’s own entry page. Base tuition for PG programs ranges from £15,500 to £21,300 (₹20.04 to ₹27.54 Lakhs) per year — see the course-wise fees breakdown for per-program figures.
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |
|---|---|---|---|
| MSc Data Science | 12 months full-time | Bachelor’s 55%+ in Computing, Mathematics, or a numerate discipline | IELTS 6.5 |
| MSc International Business Management | 12 months full-time | Bachelor’s 55%+ in any discipline | IELTS 6.5 |
| MSc Accounting and Finance | 12 months full-time | Bachelor’s 55%+ in Accounting, Finance, or Business | IELTS 6.5 |
| MSc Cyber Security | 12 months full-time | Bachelor’s 55%+ in Computing or related field | IELTS 6.5 |

| MSc Public Health | 12 months full-time | Bachelor’s 55%+ in a Health, Life Science, or related field | IELTS 6.5 |

| MSc Construction Project Management | 12 months full-time | Bachelor’s 55%+ in Construction, Built Environment, or Engineering | IELTS 6.5 |
Nursing and regulated Health programs use a higher IELTS floor (7.0 with 7.0 in each band) set by the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council, not by LSBU discretion. This cannot be waived by MOI.
Insider note: LSBU’s MSc Data Science admits both computing and non-computing graduates, which is unusual in the UK market and opens the program to Indian commerce, economics, and life-science graduates who can demonstrate quantitative coursework.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official LSBU page for your chosen program before applying.
London South Bank University UG Programs and Entry Requirements
Undergraduate programs at London South Bank University are applied to through UCAS, with a single £34.50 (₹4,460) fee covering up to five choices. Indian Class XII results are accepted directly at 65%, and LSBU does not usually require A-levels. Base UG tuition ranges from £14,900 to £16,900 (₹19.26 to ₹21.85 Lakhs) per year.
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |
|---|---|---|---|
| BSc (Hons) Computing | 3 years full-time | Class XII 65%+ including Mathematics or Computer Science | IELTS 6.0 |
| BSc (Hons) Business Management | 3 years full-time | Class XII 65%+ in any stream | IELTS 6.0 |
| BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering | 3 years full-time | Class XII 65%+ with Mathematics and Physics | IELTS 6.0 |
| BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance | 3 years full-time | Class XII 65%+ with Mathematics preferred | IELTS 6.0 |
| BA (Hons) International Business | 3 years full-time | Class XII 65%+ in any stream | IELTS 6.0 |
Indian applicants who narrowly miss the 65% floor can enter through the LSBU International Foundation Year at partner CEG (Cambridge Education Group), which then progresses to Year 1 of the chosen Bachelor’s on completion. This is a common route for Class XII scorers in the 55 to 64% range.
London South Bank University MBA Admissions
The London South Bank University MBA (International Management) is a 12-month full-time program aimed at working professionals moving into general management roles. Base tuition for the MBA is £19,500 (₹25.21 Lakhs), and there is no separate application fee. See the funding for Indian students page for MBA-specific scholarships.
London South Bank University MBA Entry Requirements
The MBA has firmer entry criteria than the standard PG floors:
- Academic: A recognised Bachelor’s degree at 55% or above in any discipline.
- Work experience: A minimum of two years of relevant post-graduation professional experience.
- English: IELTS 6.5 overall with no band under 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 90.
- Interview: Required for all applicants (see below).
London South Bank University MBA Interview Stage
Every MBA applicant is interviewed on video before an offer is issued. The panel evaluates career trajectory, motivation for the MBA, and post-course intent, and typically runs 30 to 45 minutes. Applicants are shortlisted for interview after their written application clears the academic and experience floors, so a clear CV narrative and a specific career goal statement carry weight at the shortlist stage.
Insider note: Applicants without a formal Bachelor’s degree but with substantial senior-level management experience (typically 8+ years) may be considered on a case basis through the professional-experience pathway. Contact LSBU Admissions before applying to confirm eligibility.
MBA intakes align with LSBU’s main September and January windows and admit on a rolling basis within each. Given the interview stage adds 3 to 4 weeks to the decision timeline, aim to submit at least 4 months before your target start date.
London South Bank University PhD Admissions and Funding
PhD applications at LSBU run through the LSBU Doctoral College and can be submitted at any point in the year — there is no fixed round. Applicants normally hold a Master’s degree with Merit or Distinction, though a strong first-class Bachelor’s with a well-developed research proposal is also considered. A supervisor from a matching research group must be identified before applying.
Standard PhD application steps for Indian applicants:
- Step 1: Identify a supervisor within one of LSBU’s research centres.
- Step 2: Prepare a research proposal (typically 1,500 to 2,000 words).
- Step 3: Submit the application through the LSBU Doctoral College portal with academic transcripts, CV, and English test.
- Step 4: Attend an interview with the proposed supervisor and college panel.
- Step 5: On offer acceptance, apply for CAS and the UK Student Route visa.
London South Bank University PhD Funding for 2026-27
The CTE (Centre for Technology and Enterprise) PhD Studentships cover three years of tuition and pay an annual stipend of £21,622 (₹27.95 Lakhs) including London Weighting, at the 2025-26 rate. The LSBU Chancellor’s Scholarships offer around 100 fee-waiver awards each cycle, covering tuition only for four years. Additional research council awards (UKRI, EPSRC, ESRC) can be applied for through the doctoral college. Explore the funding for Indian students silo for the full scholarship list.
Doctoral candidates are expected to complete within four years including the write-up year, examination, and submission of the final corrected thesis.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official LSBU Doctoral College page for your chosen research area before applying.
London South Bank University Application Process
The application route depends on level. Undergraduate applicants go through UCAS, the UK’s central undergraduate platform. Postgraduate and PhD applicants apply directly through LSBU’s own portals. Below are the end-to-end steps for the September 2027 cycle.
- Choose your route. UG applicants register on the UCAS platform, which opened for 2027 entry on 1 September 2026 and closes for equal consideration on 13 January 2027. PG applicants create an account on the LSBU International Portal.
- Pay the application fee. UG applicants pay the UCAS fee of £34.50 (₹4,460) covering up to five choices, collected by UCAS. Direct PG and PhD applications carry no application fee.
- Submit your application with transcripts, English test score or MOI letter, SOP, and LORs (full list in Documents Required).
- Wait for the offer. UG decisions come through UCAS Track; PG offers arrive by email typically within 2 to 6 weeks.
- Accept the offer in UCAS or the LSBU portal by the deadline stated in the offer letter.
- Pay the 50% tuition deposit via Convera to trigger CAS issuance.
- Receive your CAS from LSBU within 5 to 10 working days after the deposit clears.
- Apply for the UK Student Route visa using your CAS reference (see visa section below).
London South Bank University Admission Decision Timeline
LSBU issues most PG offers within 2 to 6 weeks of application submission. UG offers via UCAS follow the standard UCAS cycle, with most decisions arriving by mid-May 2027 for equal consideration applications. Offers are typically conditional on final results (for pending Class XII or Bachelor’s exams), the tuition deposit, and English score confirmation. LSBU allows one deferral of the offer to the next same-year intake (September to January or vice versa) on written request.
London South Bank University Documents Required for Indian Applicants
The document set below applies to LSBU direct PG and PhD applications, and to UG applications submitted via UCAS. All academic documents must be attested and translated to English if originally in another language. Financial documents are needed at the CAS and visa stage, not at initial application.
- Valid passport (bio page scan, minimum 6 months validity beyond intake).
- Academic transcripts for Class X, Class XII, and each year of the Bachelor’s (attested).
- Degree certificate or provisional certificate (final-year applicants can submit later).
- Statement of Purpose (SOP) — 500 to 1,000 words linking prior study, motivation, and career plan to the chosen program.
- Two Letters of Recommendation (LORs) — one academic and, where relevant, one professional.
- Updated CV or Résumé covering education, work, projects, and internships.
- English test score report (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE, or Duolingo) or an MOI certificate from your Bachelor’s institution.
- Passport-size photographs in UK visa format.
- Work experience letters on company letterhead (required for MBA, useful for PG in Business, Nursing, and Health).
- Research proposal (PhD only, 1,500 to 2,000 words).
- Financial evidence (bank statements covering tuition plus 9 months of London living costs) — required at CAS and visa stage, not with the initial application.
Before you apply: Get transcripts issued by your university’s controller of examinations in sealed envelopes, and request soft copies at the same time. LSBU will accept clear digital scans at initial application, but the physical set is needed for enrolment.
London South Bank University Acceptance Rate
London South Bank University does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates place LSBU’s selectivity in the 55 to 70% band, based on its widening-participation admission model and the fact that most direct-entry PG programs admit any Indian applicant meeting the stated 55% Bachelor’s and IELTS 6.5 floors. This band should be read as a rough indication, not a formal figure.
London South Bank University Selectivity by Program Type
Selectivity varies sharply by program. Standard business, computing, and engineering PG programs sit near the top of the band and admit most qualifying Indian applicants. Nursing, Midwifery, and regulated Health programs are meaningfully more selective, filtering on the IELTS 7.0 floor, clinical experience, and NMC pre-registration checks. The MBA is the most competitive among taught programs due to the mandatory interview stage.
London South Bank University Ranking Context for Selectivity
LSBU sits in the QS 801-850 ranking band and THE 601-800 band for 2025. This puts it in the same competitive tier as other London widening-participation universities. Applicants comparing LSBU with Russell Group institutions should expect meaningfully softer entry thresholds and a broader admission funnel here.
Insider note: The 55 to 70% band reflects Indian-applicant patterns and does not translate directly to a UK-average acceptance rate. For Indian applicants meeting the 65% Class XII or 55% Bachelor’s threshold with the correct IELTS score, the effective admit rate is materially higher than the headline band suggests.
UK Student Visa for London South Bank University Applicants
Indian applicants offered a place at London South Bank University need the UK Student Route visa (formerly Tier 4 General) to study on campus. The visa is applied for online through the UK Home Office after LSBU issues a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), which is triggered by the 50% tuition deposit. Applications open up to 6 months before the course start date and typically decide within 3 weeks for standard service.
Core steps for the UK Student Route visa from India:
- Receive CAS from LSBU after paying the 50% tuition deposit through Convera.
- Prepare financial proof covering one year’s tuition plus 9 months of London living costs at the Home Office rate of £1,483 per month (₹1.92 Lakhs), totalling around £13,347 (₹17.26 Lakhs) held for 28 consecutive days.
- Submit the online visa application and pay the Home Office fee plus the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) for the full study duration.
- Book biometrics at a VFS Global centre in India and submit passport, CAS, tuition proof, financial evidence, and English test results.
- Register with the police on arrival in London if required by your visa vignette (many student route visas from India no longer require this).
2026 update: UK Student Route rules continue to restrict dependant visas for most taught PG students — only research-level PG (PhD, MRes) and government-sponsored applicants can bring dependants. Confirm current rules with the UK Home Office before making family plans.
Tips and Checklist for London South Bank University Admissions
The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at London South Bank University. Use them alongside the earlier sections rather than as a substitute — documents live in Documents Required, eligibility in Eligibility.
- Book IELTS 10 to 12 weeks before your target application date. LSBU direct PG applications need scores at submission; slots fill fast in Tier-1 Indian cities.
- Request the MOI letter early. Many Indian universities take 4 to 6 weeks to issue MOI on letterhead — request when you decide LSBU is a serious option.
- Apply for the January 2027 spring intake by mid-October 2026 to leave visa runway; rolling admissions favour earlier applicants.
- Use all 5 UCAS choices strategically. UCAS charges the same £34.50 whether you apply to 1 or 5, so include LSBU alongside stretch and safety options.
- Pay the 50% deposit at least 8 weeks before intake so CAS is issued in time to book a visa appointment slot.
- Confirm the pre-sessional English route if you score IELTS 5.5 to 6.0 — the 6 to 20 week course keeps your September start intact instead of pushing you to January.
- Time your Convera transfer around the exchange rate window — remit tuition when the GBP-INR rate is favourable, not at the last moment.
- Keep certified physical documents ready by June 2027 for a September 2027 start; digital scans suffice at application, but originals are checked at enrolment.
Indian applicants who plan the eligibility, English, and CAS steps in parallel typically move from application to visa in 12 to 16 weeks. London South Bank University’s rolling PG intake, IELTS waivers, and no-fee direct portal make it one of the more approachable London universities for Indian applicants who meet the 55% and IELTS 6.5 floors, particularly for MSc Data Science, MSc International Business Management, and the MBA.
London South Bank University Admissions: Frequently Asked Questions
Ques. What is the application deadline for the London South Bank University September 2027 intake?
Ans. UG applicants apply through UCAS by the equal consideration deadline of 13 January 2027. Postgraduate direct applications for September 2027 close on an indicative rolling deadline around 1 August 2027, though earlier submission is strongly advised for visa runway.
Ques. Does London South Bank University charge an application fee for Indian students?
Ans. LSBU itself does not charge an application fee for undergraduate or postgraduate applications. UG applicants via UCAS pay a single £34.50 (₹4,460) UCAS fee that covers all five choices for the 2027 entry cycle.
Ques. Can I get into LSBU without IELTS?
Ans. Yes, if your Bachelor’s degree was taught and examined in English at a recognised Indian university within the last two years, you can submit a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter instead. The MOI waiver does not apply to regulated Nursing, Midwifery, and Health programs, which require IELTS 7.0.
Ques. What is the minimum IELTS score for a master’s at London South Bank University?
Ans. The institution-wide postgraduate minimum is IELTS 6.5 overall with no band under 6.0. Nursing and regulated Health programs need IELTS 7.0 with 7.0 in each band. Applicants short by up to one band can enter through the pre-sessional English course.
Ques. Is LSBU easy to get into for Indian students?
Ans. LSBU follows a widening-participation admission model, and third-party estimates place its selectivity at 55 to 70%. Indian applicants meeting the 65% Class XII or 55% Bachelor’s floor with the required IELTS score usually receive an offer within 2 to 6 weeks.
Ques. How much is the LSBU tuition deposit and when do I pay it?
Ans. LSBU requires a 50% tuition deposit after you accept the offer, paid via Convera. The deposit triggers issuance of your CAS letter, which you need for the UK Student Route visa application. Deposits are paid before CAS, not before offer acceptance.
Ques. Does LSBU accept Class XII directly for undergraduate admission?
Ans. Yes. LSBU accepts Indian Class XII results at 65% and above directly for undergraduate entry, without requiring A-levels or a foundation year. Applicants in the 55 to 64% range can enter through the LSBU International Foundation Year run with CEG partner colleges.
Ques. When do UCAS applications open for the LSBU 2027 entry cycle?
Ans. UCAS opened for 2027 entry on 1 September 2026. Registration was available from May 2026, but submissions could only go to universities from 1 September. The equal consideration deadline for most LSBU UG courses is 13 January 2027.
Ques. How long does LSBU take to decide on my application?
Ans. Postgraduate direct applications typically get a decision within 2 to 6 weeks. MBA applications add 3 to 4 weeks for the interview stage. UCAS undergraduate applications follow the standard UCAS cycle, with most decisions arriving by mid-May 2027 for equal consideration applications.
Ques. Do I need work experience to apply for the LSBU MBA?
Ans. Yes. The London South Bank University MBA requires a minimum of two years of post-graduation professional work experience, plus IELTS 6.5 and a mandatory video interview. Applicants without a formal Bachelor’s but 8+ years of senior management experience may be considered on a case basis.
Ques. Can I defer my LSBU offer to the next intake?
Ans. LSBU allows one deferral of an offer to the next same-year intake (September to January or vice versa) on written request to admissions. Offers cannot usually be deferred beyond one intake — you would need to reapply if you miss the deferred window.
Ques. What financial proof do I need for the UK Student visa from India?
Ans. The Home Office requires proof of one year’s tuition plus 9 months of London living costs at £1,483 per month (₹1.92 Lakhs), totalling around £13,347 (₹17.26 Lakhs). Funds must be held in a permitted account for 28 consecutive days ending within 31 days of the visa application.
