Planning to study at Aston University in Birmingham? Understanding the full cost picture before you apply is essential. As an Indian student classified as an overseas/international student for fee purposes, you will pay international tuition rates, higher than UK home student rates. On top of tuition, you need to budget for accommodation, food, transport, and other living expenses in Birmingham.

According to the official website of Aston University, here are a few key highlights:

  • International undergraduate tuition fees: £20,000-£26,400/year or ₹25.75 to ₹33.99 lakhs (varies by program)
  • International postgraduate tuition fees: £24,800-£31,500/year or ₹31.93 to ₹40.56 lakhs (varies by program)
  • On-campus accommodation: £172.20-£178.35/week or ₹22,175 to ₹22,967
  • Deposit required on accepting your offer: varies by program (MBA: £5,000/₹6.43 lakhs; other PG: stated in offer letter)
  • Fees are reviewed annually and may increase by up to 6% year on year for international students

The good news: Aston University is one of the most affordable top-ranked universities in the UK for international students. Birmingham is significantly cheaper than London, and Aston offers guaranteed on-campus accommodation with transparent pricing. Beyond tuition, Indian students must also budget for costs such as the UK student visa application, the immigration health surcharge, textbooks, course materials, and personal expenses.

Aston University MBA Fees

The Aston MBA is one of the most popular programs among Indians due to its triple-accredited status at Aston Business School (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS), its strong industry focus, and its excellent career outcomes in the UK and globally.

Program Tuition Fee (GBP) Duration Notes
Full-time MBA £31,500 (₹40.56 lakhs) 1 year Standard full-time program

Note: When you accept your place on the Aston University MBA, you will be required to pay a £5,000 deposit. This sum will be deducted from your total tuition fee amount upon enrollment.

Aston University Fees Payment Process

All students, including Indian international students, are required to pay a deposit to secure their place in their chosen course. Key points:

  • The deposit amount and payment deadline are stated in your offer letter.
  • The deposit is deducted from your first year's tuition fees; it is not an additional charge.
  • MBA students must pay a £5,000 (₹6.43 lakhs) deposit on accepting their place, which is deducted from the total tuition fees.
  • For all other postgraduate programs, the deposit amount is specified in your individual offer letter

Tuition Fee Payment Schedule (2025/26 Academic Year)

Aston University allows fees to be paid in three installments rather than in full up front. The schedule differs by student type:

For International Postgraduate Students (September 2025 start):

Installment Amount Due Date
Installment 1 50% of tuition fee Pre-enrolment (before face-to-face enrolment)
Installment 2 25% of tuition fee 15 January 2026
Installment 3 25% of tuition fee 30 April 2026

For International Undergraduate Students (September 2025 start):

Installment Amount Due Date
Installment 1 50% of tuition fee 30 October 2025
Installment 2 25% of tuition fee 15 January 2026
Installment 3 25% of tuition fee 30 April 2026

Note: The above schedule is for students who enrolled in September 2025. As Aston University has not yet released the schedule for September 2026 entry, Indian students can plan their academics as per the above schedule.

How installments are calculated? Installments are calculated on net fees, that is, after any scholarship or support is deducted from gross fees. For example: if your gross fee is £20,000 and you receive a £3,000 scholarship, your net fee is £17,000. Your first installment (50%) = £8,500, minus any deposit already paid.
