Course Curriculum

6

  • The course was majorly theoretical.
  • No international exposure so we didn't have any experience with how European people do business or their thought process. Indians and Pakistanis have the same thought process and the same way of doing business. There is not even a single talk about innovation in the UK.
  • There were 2 classes in a week and timing varies from 9 am to 4 pm
  • On average there were 30-40 students in every class.
  • During my batch, the majority were Indian students, then were the Pakistanis and then the Nigerian students.

Admission Experience

  • I had applied to 5 universities and was accepted at all of them in less than a week's time. I had offer letters for all of these universities.
    • Birmingham City University
    • Manchester Metropolitan University
    • Coventry University
    • Greenwich University
    • Nottingham Trent University
  • I didn't get rejection from any university
  • I had chosen Birmingham City University. The location seemed to be great. International exposure, Multiple facilities. Every teacher has multiple years of experience. The subjects were interesting. The course was accredited by CMI. This course makes you employable. Fees were less than at the other universities.
  • I had filed their application form through their portal. I had submitted my previous academic marksheets, work experience and personal statement stating why I'm interested in this course and how it will help me in the future and all that. After that I had given an online interview with AI including 5 general questions up to 2 minutes for each question. Once I had given that, I got unconditional offer letter
  • One should have completed his bachelor's degree with grade 2:2 and any of the English proficiency exams. I had given the IELTS test and I had got 6.5 overall and 5.5 in one section so this was accepted by the university.
  • Overall experience was not so good; they were not accepting my name because on my passport my full name was there, and on my marksheet my first and last names were only there, which made them doubt that these were the same person. After giving the interview, their portal was not working, which delayed my CAS letter, which I received at the very last moment. No proper contacts were mentioned on their website for whom to contact if faced with this issue. I was ringing them every day, and they had no update for 15 days. Some people mentioned you have failed and reappeared for it. I had given it one more time; still the same issue. Because of all this, my visa process got delayed and I reached the university late.
  • I had applied to the September 2024 intake.
  • Factors influenced were - It should be centrally located, fees and the city should be within my budget, there should be easy access to convenience stores and close to the city centre. Availability of Indian food. International students and faculty with lots of events.
  • I had given my IELTS in January 2024 and started research about my course and university I started applying in April 2024 and within one week I got an offer letter. I accepted the offer letter and submitted the documents. By July I had given my CAS interview after receiving the CAS letter in September, I started the visa process and received it within 5 days. So by the 9th of September I had given my biometrics and by the 15th I received my Visa success letter.

Faculty

8

  • There were sufficient teachers for every module.
  • Not at all; the course subjects aren't relevant to current market conditions and won't be sufficient for landing a job your extra skills and side hustles will save you but can't depend on them. The faculty are doing their job; they are making their money by teaching but they are not interested in every individual.
  • The faculty doesn't interact with you initially or directly; you have to take part and build a connection with them. As they have been over there for many years, they know the current market condition and have many connections outside the university as well. But the answer would be a clear NO.
  • I neither admire anyone from my university

Campus Life

8

  • 2 campuses: one in the city center B4 7RJ and one in the city's south campus B15 3TN
  • Library and laptop lending, sports center was used of Aston University, very limited parking available, cafe & bar, mental health, financial aid
  • There are many clubs and events you can take part in; there's free badminton day for 2 hours, Bingo night, movie night, Garba & Diwali night and Eid. Also, you can volunteer in any event going on in UNI. Black month is celebrated and LGBTQ
  • For Garba night, the university has an auditorium where it is organised, pooja is done, a DJ is available and food will be provided. You need to prebook this and it's free of cost. Same for Holi and badminton day you get free access.

Part Time Jobs

  • There are less openings for these types of roles
  • Depends on the age and current minimum wage rate, $12.21 hourly as of now
  • There are other opportunities like for cafes or retail, which are paid. TA RA DA are usually unpaid; starting would be 12.21 for master's student
  • Students can work to 20 hours maximum. There is too much competition; it is not at all easy
  • Warehouses are the major workplaces for Indian students. Grocery stores or Driving jobs, Security guards kitchen roles, retail assistants. 12.21 is the minimum wage rate. Indian students work for cash as well. It's very hard even to get a part time job. Major hiring is done from August to October; after that it's very difficult. Reference is only the way by which you grab the job.
  • Students can apply from job portals and the company's website and the university also has a portal for jobs. Students can also walk directly into a nearby store directly and hand over their CV there are high chances. Job will be mostly out of the city centre or far from the university. Communication skill is most important in UK for any job also have a skillset apart from your major ongoing course. Apply atleast 20-30 jobs per day. ATS resume is a must without that you can't even get shortlisted. No Indian experience is valued over there. Start from free internships and volunteering at least you'll have something on CV. CV should be maximum 1 page.

Placement

2

  • Less than 10%. Most of the students go back to their home country right after course completion or after taking PSW.
  • 24000 can be expected as per the minimum wage rate. This cannot sustain you in the UK.
  • References, Job portals like LinkedIn, Indeed, Total Jobs, TargetJobs,
  • 0 As of now in my batch none of them have got job. Manpower, Screwfix, JLR are the major companies.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • I had found my accommodation through amber.
  • Weekly it was 165 and monthly 660 for a 100 sqft personal room and toilet, Wi-Fi, parking, hot water, microwave, fridge, oven,
  • Understanding the weekly concept and the type of rooms like bronze, silver, ensuite and other facilities it.
  • Take accommodation for shorter duration and after reaching UK start searching for flats and bungalow that will cost you less anyways you are sharing the room or toilet or kitchen
  • My accommodation was a 3-minute walk to the university. Most of the students stay under 5 miles from uni; either you take an expensive room close to uni or live far from uni and spend on travelling – one and the same thing.

Exams

  • I had given IELTS and received 6.5 bands
  • Previous Marksheets, Passport, SOP, CV, Degree Certificate, Bank Statements
  • Yes, the interview was a part of my admission process. It was an online self-recorded interview the questions were displayed on the screen and I needed to answer them.
  • There were 5 general questions the university wanted to know about you: why did you choose that specific university and your knowledge about the UK and the university?

Fees

  • My course fee was around 19200 pounds after scholarship of 1500 it was around 17,700
  • 50% of fee is taken as deposit during admission. Rest of the fees needs to be paid in first and second semester Rent would be around 300 to 400 if sharing and 600 to 700 in student accommodation.
  • Uni is 2 days for master's or max 4 days if bachelors so transport would be depend on that and on location. For grocery it would be around 200 monthly and if ordering food will cost you more try for takeaway.

Scholarship

  • There are multiple scholarships available on the university website and all the eligibility criteria. A person should be studying any postgraduate course and should be self-funded to be eligible for a scholarship. The amount varies and is to 3000 pounds
  • I received 1500 pounds award
  • Mostly every student received a scholarship. Every year 100s of students receive scholarships from the university.
