What Students Say?
Dislikes
- The main campus does not have anything for sports, career support is there but did not find it useful.
I chose UK because they provide a 1-year master's in budget universities, and I could get 2-year visa. The university experience has been good, the ranking was average, plus there are good opportunities in Birmingham for part-time and full-time as well. Also, I felt I could do so much more in the university if I weren't here for 1 year; there is so much to explore and get into.
Course Curriculum
The courses are well defined, but it's mostly on us, how proactive we are and how we make network outside.
Exams
- I had ILETS 7- 7.5 band, but they picked my 12th english marks - CBSE - 60% (10th) Sarvodya kanya vidhyalya; CBSE - 63% (12th)Sarvodya kanya vidhyalya NIFT - 6.3 National institute of fashion technology - Requirements: Yes, I had to submit SoP, to show the university what makes them our first choice and why this program, then submitted a portfolio, sketchbooks and other design-related things. Yes, I had one interview with with someone from the university to check on my knowledge and its depth, my finances and why this university.
Placement
There are no placement offers here, we find them ourselves, but we do have a career support team and facilities who help us with CV, interview preparations and all. I did get my first volunteer interview preparation help from the team.
Fees
In 2021, it was around 14L or 15L but had a scholarship, so it came down to 13L. It has gone up to 17L now and over that you need more finances to live in the city and to show to the uni.
Faculty
Faculties are helpful, and the ratio is also good, they give you time for either in-person or online meetings. In terms of helping part-time or full-time, it depends on how close you are to the faculty or how capable they feel about you.
Campus Life
The campus has many societies one can participate in, just lacks a sports place inside the main campus, we have it in another one, rest for my design course we had a lot of facilities.
Hostel
Average student accommodation rent in Birmingham should be around 600£ for ensuite or studio, but one can take rooms in independent houses in a bit cheaper price.
