Course Curriculum

8

  • The syllabus for the course I had done was very up to date. Unfortunately, i did my Master's from 2020-21. So, a lot of the teaching was impacted. For ex. as part of a module (Corporate Finance), I was to have a week of simulated trading in an actual trading room. However, we never go that exposure and other such experiences.
  • We typically had 2 lectures, and 1 seminar at the beginning of the week. As we moved towards the weekend, we had more of seminars and work shops as lectures.
  • We had 25-30 for most modules apart from Accounts in which there were 60

Admission Experience

  • Cost, and program offered. I chose the program as it covered everything I wanted to study.
  • IELTS 8, not sure for STEM degrees what the entry requirement was.

Faculty

10

  • Professor Ben Swan was one of the best teachers I ever had. Ben, had tremendous knowledge when it came to Business Studies. In whatever case study, Ben always had an example with knowledge on how the company had navigated around the problem.

Campus Life

6

  • Newcastle University had several clubs (list was extensive; can be found in their Students Union website). With regards to the campus buildings, we did have 3 big centers. However, there could be more catering to STEM or other such degrees. Since, I was at the Business school i never ventured into any other buildings.

Part Time Jobs

  • Students are allowed to work 20 hours per week. With so many restaurants, bars, cafes, and other stores part-time jobs are available. However, Newcastle University having so many students, part-time jobs are competitive.
  • Campus part-time jobs were available as well. Once again, they were immensely competitive, and required a lot of effort initially to be recognised.

Placement

4

  • Universities abroad dont really have campus recruitments. They have career teams who help connect students with recruiters however, they dont do the application work. You have to apply, make it to events, attend seminars.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • I found the accommodation (Verde) online. My weekly rent was 140/- (inclusive of bills).

Exams

  • Statement of Purpose, CV and IELTS certificate. Not sure for STEM what the entry requirements were.

Fees

  • Fee was 20,500 gbp .
