Colleges Where I Was Accepted

Reason for choosing my college

  • I chose Newcastle University for my MSc in Cybersecurity because of its strong academic reputation, cutting-edge research in cyber defense, and practical ,hands-on approach to learning. While other universities also offered cybersecurity programs, Newcastle stood out for several reasons.
  • Firstly, the course structure at Newcastle University is both comprehensive and industry-relevant, covering core areas like network security, ethical hacking and advance cryptography. It also offers the opportunity to work on real-world projects and research, which was important to me.
  • Secondly, the university has strong ties with industry partners and research groups such as cyber security resilience group. This connection provides valuable opportunities for networking, internships, and future job prospects. Moreover, the city of Newcastle itself is vibrant, student-friendly and affordable compared to other UK cities. The supportive environment for international students and the opportunity to learn in a diverse setting further influenced by decision.
  • Overall, I felt Newcastle offered the best blend of academic excellence, practical exposure and personal development.

Class Schedule

10

  • In the MSc Cybersecurity course , we usually have 3-4 classes per week. Each class lasts about 2 hours and is scheduled between 9AM to 5PM, depending on the timetable. The average class size is around 40-50 students and there are many Indian students in the course. Apart from lectures, I spend 2-3hours daily on assignments, lab work and self study to stay on track with the syllabus and upcoming assessments.

  • The faculty members in the MSc Cybersecurity course at Newcastle University are very supportive and approachable. The faculty-to-student ratio is good and we get enough attention and guidance. Some professors are especially helpful with lab sessions and project discussions. They are open to questions and also guide us with research ideas, internships and job advice. A few even share job opportunities or references when asked.
