What Students Say
Likes
- Russel group university, really good for economics/management related courses, cost of living is lower than other UK cities.
- The different opportunities available to students in terms of courses offered, optional modules, societies to get involved in, activities to participate in etc.
Dislikes
- While there are many positive aspects of my College/University, there are a few things I'm not particularly fond of. For instance, I sometimes find the administrative processes to be a bit cumbersome and bureaucratic. Additionally, there could be more resources and support available for students in certain areas.
I would say my experience has been very positive. As an international student you gain invaluable experience and learn different things.
Course Curriculum
Course curriculum and academics are intense and the university has very high academic standards on account of it being a Russel group.
Faculty
Staff is very approachable. We are assigned personal tutors upon entrance into university who are our first points of contact regarding anything relating from academics to problems in personal life. My lecturers (Barbara Eberth, my Degree Program Director) are very helpful and are always there to lend a hand in case of emergencies.
Campus Life
There are different societies to get involved in, ranging from cultural, academic, and hobby related societies. There are three libraries out of which my favourite is Phillip Robinson.
Placement
Median salary for my course ranges from £20,000-£30,000 per year. Newcastle has good placement numbers, however as international students you will need to apply to hundreds of companies before securing a placement.
Accommodation
I live in an en-suite apartment with shared kitchens next to the business school and on average the cost of accommodations in that area ranges from £150-200 per week including bills.
Exams
85% overall in CBSE grade 12 examinations; IELTS not required as long as CBSE English >75%.. Submitted SOP-included passion for subject, work experience I have/things I have done to demonstrate passion for subject, and reasons why I want to study at Newcastle. LOR-from class teacher.
Fees
£21,400 (for academic year 2023-24)
Scholarship
Yes-Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship-25% of tuition fees per year. Provided to international students based on certain grades achieved in 12th grade.
