Course Curriculum

10

  • The course difficulty is definitely easy. They are structured very well and the topics included are very relative to the module. The classes are a mix of both practical and theory. We have theory classes on wednesday and thursday, and then practicals on thursday and fridays. So it is managed really well. Classes are evenly managed throughout the day.
  • My course is cloud computing, the factor which makes my course stand out is that, our course leader is going to take us on a visit to an actual datacenter to see how the cloud actually works. That is something very brilliant and noteworthy.
  • I dont have as such favourite professors, every professor is really nice to me, i have good connections with them as i am really punctual and curious student and we have an healthy interaction in our classes.
  • Career zone is the place where one should go to if they need assistance with the part time jobs

Admission Experience

  • I applied to only 3 colleges and was given offer by all 3:
    • City University London: Got an offer letter from the university within a week or two.
    • Middlesex University: Got an offer letter from the university at the end after confirming my university.
    • University Of East London: 1st offer letter and confirmed it without any further delay.
  • I was confused between University of East London and City university London.
  • I chose this college because of the course, My course was not available in many colleges and where it was available was not well structured. I chose Uni of East London because of its course and The Industrial Placement Year.
  • The admission process was really good. They state everything very well in the offer letter, even the deposit structure and the deadlines. First we get the offer letter(conditional /unconditional) Then once you pay the CAS issuance fees, in a few days you get your CAS. You are interviewed to prove your fluency in your English proficiency. Once we clear it, we are good to go! I had applied for a waiver so my IELTS score wasnt mandatory, but just in case I did gave the test. Overall admission was quite impressive and smooth!
  • I applied for the September 2024 intake. I started my admission process pretty late around the end of July but the university was bery supportive and I recieved my offer letter and CAS within a month. The admission process took no more than 1 month for me as i had to reach the uni in september. Deadlines are extended now till november due to huge number of applications.

Faculty

10

  • Avg students in my course are maybe around 50-60. Most of them are Indians, mostly South Indians. That is the only problem that the class isn't very diverse.
  • The teaching methodologies of our professors are all different; some believe in real-world incidents, some prefer hypothetical examples and some stick to the book. But that is actually sufficient because you cant expect much spoonfeeding as a masters student you need to do self study as much as possible.

Campus Life

10

  • Our college has 3 campuses:
    • Docklands (Main) - University Way, Newham
    • Stratford
    • USS
  • I stay and attend classes at the Docklands campus. The other two campuses are a bit far, but the university has a free bus throughout the day during lecture periods so that students can travel from one campus to another without any problem.
  • The university has an excellent library, which is open 24/7 for the students with high-specification computers and a wide range of books as well.
  • The university has a free gym for students during off-peak hours. Various sports activities are done here. Cricket, basketball, volleyball, and badminton—all kinds of sports are encouraged!

Part Time Jobs

  • Most of the students secure the assistants position as a part of their placement year. It really depends from faculty to faculty whether they get paid or not. but most of them are unpaid. If someone gets a paid one the range is pretty good like around £14-15.
  • As a student you can only work for 20hrs/week but once you graduate you can work for upto 40hrs/week. It is difficult to secure on campus part time jobs because of the competition and limited vacancies.
  • Students mostly prefer waiting at restaurant and warehouse and security jobs as those get paid more. Security jobs are in a very high demand so most students are opting for that as security jobs really have a very good pay compared to others.
  • Currently there really is a shortage of part time jobs in london. You can try indeed and totaljobs for applying online for part time job roles.

Placement

6

  • Majority of the students tend to get placed within 6 months after completing their studies. Even the college helps the students to secure jobs with their network. But it really depends on your skills level whether you should get placed or not.
  • If you perform bad in your academics and develop no skills, it might cause you troubles later on.
  • Students do prefer applying online or through referrals for jobs, be it part time or full time.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I have an on-campus accomodation. I was offered the accomodation when I had applied through the university portal online.
  • Currently my monthly rent is £750, which i think is really good because it is a private room with a private bathroom and a shared kitchen, so you can actually have your privacy without anyone disturbing you.
  • My accomodation is like 2 mins walk from the classroom. Btw the rent includes all the bills as well, water bill, electricity bill, heater, water heater, gas bill and 24/7 support in any emergencies

Exams

  • IELTS is standard but it is not mandatory. If you have a good score in your 12th grade, you dont need to give an IELTS.
  • SOP are important as they are the key factor to your admission. You should write it very carefully and do not use AI to write as you will be asked questions based on your SOP, like, why UK? Why this University? Such questions are asked in the interviews.
  • There will be 2 interviews. 1 will be telephonic and the other you will have to record yourselves during the CAS issuance.

Fees

  • My yearly fees is £15960 for the first year. I have a placement year as well so additional £3500 for that.
  • I also have the oncampus occomodation till term 1(january). It costs me £750 per month including all the bills and maintenance.
  • My monthly expense for all the groceries is around £50-60, but that is subjective. If you are a fun and outgoing person, it will definitely cost you more.

Scholarship

  • Most of the students do receive scholarships. I did not got one because I failed to apply for one because I didnt have enough time for that.
  • Yes some of my friends did got a scholarship but I didnt get one due to time constraints.
  • The university even gives a discount of around £700-800 if you pay all your tuition fees before the outlined deadline on your offer letter.
