Master of Science [M.S] (Georesources Engineering)
Field of Study:
$11,000 /Yr
The future and sustainability of our societies is critically linked to the availability of raw materials, and to the efficiency of all processes involved throughout their life-cycle. There is a critical need, particularly in Europe, to educate engineers bridging the gap between georesources and advanced processing technologies.
Description
Europe finest technical universities with a long tradition in these areas. Through a common European cooperation - Erasmus Mundus - creates Lule? University (Sweden), Teknische Universit?t Bergakademie Freiberg (Germany), University of Li?ge (Belgium) and the Universit? de Lorraine (France) together with local industrial partners, a unique competence network - consortium - with objective is to develop world-leading education and research in Georesources Engineering. Content and structure The Master programme EMerald is 2 years (120 ECTS) and consists of specially designed courses at the participating universities. The intention is that each student is traveling and getting to know the universities, studying with them and finally choose where he / she wants to do his master thesis. In this perspective the master programme begins at the University of Li?ge who is also responsible for the admittance process. From there, the University of Nancy is responsible for training in advanced knowledge of Georesouces modeling, while the universities in Freiberg and Lule? is responsible for training in Geology, Mineral resources and Mineral technology.
The program aims to find the right balance between knowledge of mineral resources, ie ores (geology, resource characterization, ore reserve calculation modeling) and mineral processing (crushing, grinding, rough milling, leaching, waste management). The programme comprises a broader view of life cycle assessment of mineral resources and the potential for urban mining. The program also includes professional seminars to highlight the strategic, economic, environmental and social challenges of modern mining.
Labour market
The Master program gives the student an international education in the area of mining and metallurgy. Opportunities for attractive and challenging work in international mining, metallurgy and technology companies in production, engineering, R&D are excellent worldwide. The program, with internationally appreciated diplomas, gives excellent background for students aiming for a researcher career.
