For International students, Swedish Universities usually have 2 intakes: Autumn and Spring. However, only a few Swedish universities offer spring admissions for international students.

The main intake is the Autumn Intake, which offers the widest selection of programs across nearly all institutions. The application period for the autumn intake lasts from mid-October to mid-January. For the spring intake, you can apply between early June to mid-August. Regardless of the intake, you have to apply through a national portal and pay a standard application fee of 900 SEK (INR 7,443). Sweden offers a unique academic experience, with universities consistently ranking among the best globally. It has 8 entries in the QS World University Rankings 2025, all of which are in the top 350.

In most Swedish Universities, the English-taught courses are only available to apply in the first round of admissions. There may be some courses that might not be available for the second round altogether. That is another reason why it is best to apply for the first round to begin with. Since the results of the application are declared in July/August for the Autumn Intake, which starts in August/September, and the results for Spring Intake will be declared in December, when the semester starts in January, the international students are not advised to apply for the second round. Since there is less than one month between the acceptance into the university and the start of the semester
