Nanyang Technological University offers a wide range of scholarships for international students applying to undergraduate and graduate programs. These scholarships are merit-based and recognise strong academic performance, leadership qualities, and research potential. Most undergraduate scholarships are automatically considered when students submit their admission application within the deadline. International students can receive up to INR 7.17 L or full subsidised tuition fee coverage through awards such as the NTU President Award and the Nanyang Global Scholarship.

For graduate students, funding is mainly available for research-based Master’s and PhD programs. Key awards include the NTU Research Scholarship, Nanyang President’s Graduate Scholarship, and other faculty-supported PhD scholarships. They provide monthly stipends along with tuition fee support. Scholarship interest must be indicated during the NTU program application process.

To be eligible for university-based scholarships, candidates must be enrolled in a full-time program and demonstrate excellent academic performance. Certain course-specific awards, such as the NBS Global Leader Program Scholarship, have additional requirements. Scholarship interviews are generally conducted within two months of the program offer being issued. Only the shortlisted candidates are notified by email, usually within one month of receiving their admission offer.

Students' reviews on Scholarships from Reddit:

  • Many applicants say that they don’t hear anything for a long time from Nanyang Technological University. Official rejection emails typically come later (often in early May for April interviews).
  • Students say that Interview questions are usually straightforward and standard (academic/professional motivation, challenges faced, why NTU). Some students feel that if they are invited to interview, they will likely be offered some award, even if not the top scholarship.
  • Some applicants with strong results still do not receive scholarship offers, likely due to limited slots and holistic evaluation.

FAQs

Ques: Can Indian students hold an NTU scholarship along with an external scholarship or education loan?

Ans: NTU allows students to take an education loan alongside a university scholarship if required for additional expenses. However, holding multiple full scholarships simultaneously is typically not permitted, especially if both cover tuition and living allowances. Students must declare any external funding during the scholarship acceptance process, and NTU will assess whether partial co-funding or adjustment of benefits is applicable.

Ques: Do Indian students need to apply separately for NTU scholarships after receiving admission?

Ans: At Nanyang Technological University, most undergraduate scholarships do not require a completely separate application form, but students must indicate their interest in scholarships while submitting the admission application. For research-based Master’s and PhD programs, scholarship consideration is usually selected within the same online application portal. Missing this step during the initial application may mean you are not considered for funding.

Nanyang Technological University Scholarships: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 8 Reviews

In Singapore, scholarships are often structured as bond agreements where students receive full or partial tuition coverage in exchange for a commitment to work in Singapore for a specified period post-graduation. The MOE Tuition Grant offers a 50% discount on semester fees with a three-year work bond. The Nanyang Scholarship provides full tuition, hall fees, a laptop allowance, travel expenses, and a semester stipend of approximately SGD 3,000, requiring a six-year work bond.

This scholarship is highly competitive and favors those with international academic backgrounds. Additionally, achieving top grades in class can earn students a prize of SGD 12,000. Scholarships for locals and PRs are robust, while opportunities for international students vary, with some undergraduate scholarships covering full tuition and a five-year work visa. Master's students may find limited scholarships like the MOM register course, offering a 5% fee reduction. To qualify for these financial aids, strong academic performance is essential.

  • Yes, for Indians, the best approach is to apply for a scholarship at the same time of application. Getting a scholarship later is not possible, as most opportunities only exist for Singaporean citizens. The amount is completely dependent on the school.
  • Additionally, you can apply for a 3-year tuition grant, which cuts your educational fees by half, and you are required to work in Singapore for at least 3 years after graduating, or a 6-year tuition grant, which covers your entire tuition fees, but you sign an indemnity that states you will work in Singapore for at least 6 years after graduating. The option to opt for a tuition grant is in the admission application itself.

  • I stay in the hostel, which is the most convenient accommodation. Every student is guaranteed a hostel for the first 2 years if they want. Then, after they would have to contribute to their halls by taking part in clubs and societies.
  • The monthly rent ranges from $500 to $700, depending on the occupancy of the room and air-conditioning facilities.
  • Just be active in clubs and societies.
  • Most of the Indian students stay in the hostel itself.

  • MOE Tuition Grant – 50% discount on your semester fees for the entirety of the programme but requires the student to sign a bond to work for a period of three years in Singapore. You are not required to pay anything during the three-year period, but you will have to find a job; failure to do so means you will have to pay back the bond amount with interest. You are also able to liquidate the bond midway, paying only the portion of the sum not worked, i.e., if you work for one year, one-third of the sum is waived; two years, two-thirds of the sum; and so on.
  • Nanyang Scholarship – 100% of tuition fees, hall fees amount equal to the lowest hall rates, a one-time allowance to buy a laptop, a ticket to Singapore at the start of the course and one back at the end of the course, as well as a semester stipend of $3000 or so. Students will be required to serve a bond of six years, with the same condition as the tuition grant. You need to be eligible to get a tuition grant to receive this.
  • Tuition grants require strong academic results to apply for, which is usually the case for most students applying to NTU, and hence are relatively easy to obtain. Many students obtain this, and it is part of their application.
  • The Nanyang Scholarship requires excellent academic results and is a lot more exclusive. Many fewer people get and it is easier to obtain if you're doing an international syllabus as opposed to an Indian syllabus.

  • My accommodation is within the university, which is the most economical and convenient for international students. The university is quite far from the nearest apartments and would require around forty minutes to reach, whereas within the hostels, or Halls of Residence as they are called, you can make it to class in ten minutes or so. There are internal shuttle buses available for travel within the campus.
  • My accommodation was offered to me by the university while I was applying. Hence, it was quite easy for me to acquire accommodation. My rent is $450 a month and does not include food. The premises are well maintained and kept neat. The toilets and bathrooms are cleaned twice a day and always in good condition. You will also get canteens within the Halls, making it easier to find food. Most Indian students use this.

  • For my course there is no scholarship, but for the MOM register course there is a scholarship. When applying check this and apply. And if you score or get top 3 grades in overall CGPA among the class, you will receive 12000 SGD as a prize amount. For local citizens and PR in Singapore, they have a quite good scholarship but for foreigners it depends; for UG students, there are scholarships that pay the full amount with a work visa for 5 years. For masters students, there is no scholarship but for the MOM register course, there will be scholarships that reduce the amount, like 5%.

  • I have stayed in my home, my friends are stayed in college campus , the fee is around 500 sgd and transport is free inside campus and food also quite reasonable in campus and rooms are pretty good every day they will clean the room and atmosphere is quite natural like lot of trees in inside campus so you feel good. If you stay outside it will be around 1000 sgd for single room.

Scholarship

  • In Singapore, scholarships are replaced by a bond system. By signing a bond before starting your first year, the university fully exempts tuition fees. In return, you must work for 5 years in a Singapore-based company. This system ensures students contribute to the local workforce after graduation.
  • I did not sign the bond for my undergraduate, as I was not sure if I would be working in Singapore after my 4 years.

  • NTU gives you accommodation for all 4 years. Hence, I have been staying on campus since my first semester and it has been a great experience.Easy access to classes, great hostel community, access to subsidised food inside campus.
  • Monthly rent for double shared room: 400 SGD per month + air conditioning charges
  • Usually students don't get single aircon rooms in their preferred halls as they are quite competitive. However, double shared aircon rooms are easily available.
  • My accommodation is inside campus, so all my classes are easily accessible. All the hostels or accommodations provided by NTU, are inside campus only.
  • There are also apartments available to rent outside the campus for around 1500 SGD per month. However, you need to find these accommodations a bit early. like start hunting at least 6 months before the move-in date.

NTU is one of the worlds top universities with a proven history of producing graduates with strong technical backgrounds. The programme itself is not as qualitative in nature as other ms supply chain programmes in the world. Personally, i did a bachelors in business in supply chain management so pursuing a masters in science instead was slightly daunting because supply chain as a business is not as difficult to comprehend as supply chain as a science. I desired to be proficient in the nitty-gritty of supply chain management. The university has facilities that most other universities do not possess. There are abundant opportunities available to work on various technological equipment and software.
