Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum at RSJ was practical and industry oriented. The course focused on hands on newsroom experience and understanding the complete life cycle of a news story. The course offfered exposure to newsroom operations, reporting techniques, news writing & content production.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total fee for my diploma at republic school of journalism was ? 6 lakh for the entire course. The fee included tuition, training, workshops & practical sessions along with an additional registration fee while applying for the course. Considering the industry exposure and practical learning provided, the course offers good value for aspiring journalists.

Campus Life

4

My overall experience with the campus life at RSJ was positive. The infrastructure was one of the strongest aspects of the media house, with well equipped stuidos & production rooms. The campus also has a gym & cafeteria, making it comfortable for the students. Since it is a professional media house and not an college setup the focus was more on industry skills rather than college festivals, club activities or sports & extracurriculars.

Admission

I chose RSJ because of its focus of practical journalism, direct newsroom exposure and learning. Compared to many other media colleges that focus on theory. This course provided hands on exposure to news writing and production. Another factor was because of its placement support. The admission process was smooth.

Faculty

5

The faculty members at RSJ were senior editors themselves of the republic tv, who all are very knowledgeable, supportive and approachable throughout the course. Regular assignments, practical excercises were used to evaluate performance & the examination system was not overally difficult and mostly tested understanding & application of journalism skills.

Night Life

3

Republic being a professional media house, night life at campus is limited. Students can unwind at campus cafe, gym after classes any time. The infrastructure is good as well so there are many comfortable spaces for students to interact and learn at.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, it's highly relevant if you want to become a journalist. No other news channel gives you opportunities to work on projects like these. I firmly believe that sometimes you need to push people to help them perform at their best. As for suggestions, I would recommend that the Dean be a little more open to criticism. Doing so would help build a stronger and more effective team over time. I would also suggest not rushing through the course content, as allowing more time for learning and practical application would greatly benefit the students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In film they have more of a practical approach and it is justifieable because film is 80% practical and 20% theory so there teaching methods are admirable because even with no good equipments they managed to teach us some good camera and lighting techniques. In terms of exam difficulty, it is pretty mediocre which is because of film is more of a practice than theory.
