My internship information and project details

I choose this department as engineering seems to fascinate me because my parents works in that field and our college is 2nd college in our state that provides this course and is semi-government. As i said we study 60 subjects in total for 3 years including labs we gain so much knowledge about our work and we get to know how things are supposed to be build we learn every detail available for our course and we also have internships and site visit. We have gaps in our exam times but some gaps are large for easy subjects and some gaps are less for hard subjects so it's little tricky to manage that

We have to make one minor project in first year, mini project in second year and major project in third year. We have to make projects related to our cources so for minor project we built a hydraulic bridge, for second year we did study on slope stabilisation methods and for major projects we are doing Design and Analysis of RCC retaining wall. We have to do internships every summer after we join and i have done 2 internships till now first one was at Balkapso Construction at Gangtok and second one was at Prajapati Construction in Siliguri.

My college provides placement for students having good cgpa and a student can apply once they reach 6th sem as i plan on doing B-tech further on my course i really haven't thought about taking placement so i don't have much knowledge about placements provided by my college. As many students aim for further studies and only half of them apply for placement the placement rate is good at our college providing nice packages.

We have to pay the fees semester wise and extra if you stay hostel but i am a day scholar so i pay 5000-6000 per semester and its not same every sem it keeps increasing and we have scholarships available in state level and central level we are informed about the scholarship scheme and how should we apply.

We have one great program every semester and if we had fest this sem then it will be sports week the next sem it works like that. Fest is celebrated grandly inviting many colleges and schools hosting food stalls, art and craft staffs and many more ,we have many competitions like fashion show, art, rangoli, dancing, singing etc .For sports week we have inter department competitions in many sports like football, volleyball, cricket, badminton, throwball, shortput , high jump, long jump, race etc. We have fans, cctv in every classrooms. We don't have many groups or clubs . Students can apply for gym, badminton court etc

As i said we only have 2 colleges that provide this course in our state and the other one is away from my home this college i am currently studying at is near my hometown so its convenient for me. I didn't apply to any other colleges just this one and got 5th place into the merit lists so i got this course. At my college the admissions process was first i needed to book seat reservation for 2000 rupees and aubmit my admit card for previous board exams then the admission cell looks into the results calculates the percentage and issue the merit list accordingly, those who got into the merit list can choose their cources

Our college provides engineering courses in 5 departments and i am a civil engineering student so seats for civil departments are limited only 30 and students are choosen from merit list. We have total 30 students in each year and total 90 students in out department. Our college have 6 semester in 3 year and each semester we have to learn 10 subjects and in the end of this course we finish 60 subjects in total including labs. We have two sessions odd and even semester per year and we have 2 internal exams and 1 external exams per semester, for internal exams it is of 20 marks each and external is of 60 marks we need extra marks from attendance, file writing, quiz. For our department we have 7-8 teachers including HOD and my favourite teacher is Mr.Safal KC who is an amazing mentor who teacher us in a fun way understands students and is friendly. I dislike my HOD the most as she targets students playing favourites among the class and always interfering in student's private life.

No we don't have exams, interviews or discussions for admission only our class 10 board exams results are needed for admission. We get to know about our cources choices, what are future opportunities and if we don't get into our choice of departments what are the other options.

Our college is situated in a local village we don't have markets around here and this place is remote. As there is many drug addicts around here it isn't safe at night and local perform patrolling to avoid crime. We dont have cafes or public libraries around here only few canteen for food and shops . The hostellers aren't allowed to leave the campus and only gets outing once a week and during exams they don't even get that. Hostelers have daily fingerprint attendance.
