Likes
- Teachers are super amazing. co-operative, kind and helpful.I think the premise is also quite beautiful. Chemistry department has the best teachers. Apart from academics certain competitions are held including danc, singing etc. which is great.
- Socially the college offers great crowd. just beware of the negative ones.
- Teaching methods are traditional tbh. Not so modern and technical.
Dislikes
- I enjoyed my college life in those three years of BSc so i wont say anything bad about it but placements are very few for biotech students.
- You constantly need to get engaged in lab projects to get placements.
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus is quite easy. you start preparing for an exam 15 days prior and you will get passed. No such improvement is needed so far as the teachers are always there to help you. every 6 months the exams are held so you get time to do any other activity like job internsips etc along with your degree. and you must do something along with academics.
Placement Experience
From sem 4 the students get eligible for the placements. No placements are there for Biotech. Only if you are engaged in lab projects, certification courses etc., you are eligible for industry level internships. highest AVG pkg - 2 LPA lowest avg - 1Lpa My plan after degree is to go for MBA and so I didnt got so much into this.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college offers year wise fee structure which includes : For bsc CBZ (chem, botany, zoology) - Around 700/yr For Biotechnology- 22000 - 27000/yr For Biochem- 3000/yr if you belong to SC/ST/OBC category/ you will get respective concession. No registration fee so far. College offers scholarsship benefits through MAHADBT for EWS/OBC/SC/ST candidates. Biotechnology Department is better than any other dept in our college, so if you are going to enroll for that particular program in nagpur, i think hislop college is best option.Major subject will be Biotech but you will have to choose minor subjects among Botany and zoology. Chemistry is the compulsory one.
Campus Life
yes certain fests are organized by Bcom BA dept (not Bsc). Library is good. no idea about sports and other clubs but yeah socials aspects are quite are active. Poster making, Model making are the only competitions are held in the name of fests in BSC dept
Admission
I wanted to go to Ruia college mumbai but seemed like luck wasnt by my side so i selected this college. cutoff is very low for this college. i thought this college would be the bad choice but turned out that it wasnt. i got rejected in ruia because the admission process stopped as soon as the seats got filled. Selection process is quite smooth. Just the 12th result is enough. I got 85 so got admission even though i was late. no other exams are required for Bsc but i think from this year itself MHCET is declared mandatory for BBA.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio - 1:30 Every other faculty member is phenomenal in their work. they have experience knowledge and very positive attitude towrds their students B.Sc biotech have 3 subjects. every subject has 2papers and hence everry particular paper has separate exams for it. Sem 1,3,5 are college exams and are held in college so internal marks are easy to gain whereas sem-2,4,6 are university based. You get centres for those. easy exams but not everyone's cup of tea.
Night Life
Gym is only for hostel girls. hostel has so much restriction. Around 6pm you have to be inside the hostel. If you are going out without telling them and not coming back before 6, they will call your guardians. So no nightlife as such.Cafeteria has limited menu. The locality is very safe if you plan to hangout.
