Beyond the Brochure : VIT AP

My course is Computer Science and Engineering . The main aspects of me choosing this course was it included several courses related to different type of IT programs like DSA, DAA , BLOCKCHAIN and many more . Well there are some courses that actually help in job interviews while there are many other courses that according to me might not be needed to be taken ahead in depth learning as it has no help in real life problems , job interviews , public speaking and many more . The teaching methods adapted by the professors are fine , it does not create such an issue where a student is left confused and does not understand things , some courses can be made lighter in portion as they are very tough and the paper in exams are more tougher to comprehend due to which many students fail in those specific courses .

In our 3rd year , we are provided with many internships from amazon aws , bytexl and many more . In 4th year , we not only get placement from company to be full time but also get internships to do in many companies for 6 months as period time .

My course takes times of 4 years which means 8 semesters as 2 semester per year to be completed . Students start their placement training in 6th semester which is 3rd year- 2nd sem and the companies start recruiting the students from 7th semester onwards which is the 4th year . Many companies have been consisted in recruiting students every year , some being Cognizant , Tata , Wipro , Accenture , Wipro and many more . The average ctc is about 5.5 lakhs inr . I dont intend to sit for placement as its rough in my college , i plan to do mba . I am going to give CAT exam in Nov 2025 , GMAT and XAT in Jan 2026 . I want to pursure higher studies , mba in marketing being my first choice and mba in business management being my second choice . I look forward to studying in colleges like IIM Ahmd , IIM Calicut , IIM Kashipur , XIMB Bbsr , XLRI Jamshedpur .

There are about 5 categories of fees payments depending on your entrance examination score . Ctegory 1 students pay 198000 inr , category 2 students pay 307000 inr , category 3 students pay 405000 inr , category 4 students pay 448000 and category 5 students pay 500000 inr . I am a student of category 1 for which i pay 198000 inr . I have a few friends from category 2 and 3 for which the payments are 307000 inr and 405000 inr .We do have to pay an alumni association fee of 4000 inr and COE gradesheet fee of 1500 inr by the end of college . We had to pay 1350 inr for indian nationals for VITEEE registration fees whilr NRI students has to pay 7790 inr . There is hostel admission fee of 15000 inr - non refundable and 15000 inr as a caution deposit - refundable which will be paid after we leave the hostel . We also have different room selection fees like for 2 bedded ac/non-ac , 4 bedded ac/non-ac , different apartment sharing rooms - all varying of different prices which might change depending on year . We also have mess fees depending on veg/non-veg/special .

My college hosts 3 main fests - VITOPIA CULTURAL , VITOPIA SPORTS and V-TAPP the tech fest . VITOPIA SPORTS generally takes place between 18th Feb to 26th Feb every year (dates may vary ) , VITOPIA CULTURAL takes place 2nd March to 5th March every year and V-TAPP takes place during the end of year (dates change according to the students exam) . Our college also hosts various competitions like interdepartment sports competition for football , basketball , volleyball , cricket and batminton , inter-hostel sports competition for both solo and group games , THE TUG OF WAR CHALLENGE , VITOPIA FEST DRESS CHALLENGE , Dance/Music competitions , Comedy war and many more . Our library is accessible from morning 8 am till afternoon 5 pm everyday . It consists of all genre books including fictional , non-fictional , sci-fi , history , mathematics , IT and all types of books related to different courses for students and professors . There is a time limit of certain number of days a student can issue a book otherwise they have to pay the fine and it increases per day . All the classrooms are provided with seating arrangement of 80 students per class , a whiteboard , some classes have digital board as well . Only the Computer lab rooms and Physics lab rooms have AC provided , the chemistry lab room also have all equipments provided and able to use under supervision only . The sports and extracurricular activities are great in our campus . The students are always enthusiatic about playing game under coach or every evenings in thr grounds . We have every sports teams that is sent every year to participate in different colleges . Our college allows 4 excursions for sports every year . We have many clubs both technical and non technical leaded by professors and run by the students . Many clubs collaborate to do various events during the fresher joinings which us the end of year .

I applied to give entrance examination for VIT , JEE MAINS , SRM and KIIT . I wanted to give BITSAT and NDA but it was the covid year and i was living abroad due to which i couldnt travel for it . My JEE MAINS score was not so high that could get me Computer science courses in NIT's. I personally didn't want to join KITT even though its a great college but i am from Bhubaneshwar and KIIT is close to my home so i wanted to go to a different state. Due to covid i only had option to give online exams for VIT and SRM . i got good scores in both for which category 1 was a place for me , i read different reviews in quora and saw many videos in youtube so my parents and 1 decided to join VIT AP campus .

The faulty to student ratio is vast and drastically different . Our campus might have student strength to be 10000 to 12000 whereas professors can be about 200-400 only . The faculty and student relationship is variable , it all depends on various situations , most of the professors like those students who are regular to class in attendance and prefer to probably give them grace marks when asked or pleaded during result checking . The notorious students who do not attend class and have low attendance , either they study really hard to get good marks or fail in those exams and plead to professors to help them out . I liked 1 professor , his name was Mr. Samuel . He used to teach Design thinking . He was super friendly and approachable , i loved the way he taught the textbook words in his own way and gave projects to do instead of quiz which was more fun according to me . I do not remember the names of the faculties whom i did not like but most of them were very rude , they use to set tough paper for exams , they had a mass fail ratio in their names from different batches . We have 2 semesters a year , each semester has 3 exams - CAT1 ,CAT 2 and FAT . In between these , the professors conduct 3 quizzes and 3 assignments for the theory courses and about 6-10 assignments in the lab courses depending on different professors . Every semester , there are many students who fail several courses some courses being like ADD , CALCULUS , DLD etc . We can either take them in next semester or take them during holiday semesters which last a month only consisting of only FAT exam .

Our campus is a closed campus which means students are allowed to have outing to the city on Sunday and monday only for 6 hours each . Hostels have in timings of 8.30 pm with attendance and dinner to start from 7.45 pm . We have a library in our AB2 Block , open cafeteria called "Food Street" with many eateries and ice cream center , Small cafeteria called "Rock plaza" for drinks , biryani and breakfast items , a maggie center called "Maggie Hotspot" which provides different types of maggie , sandwiches , coffee and momos as well . We have 2 basketball court , 2 volleyball court , 1 throwball court , 1 footballl and 1 cricket field , indoor batminton , indoor chess/carrom/table tennis , indoor gym , indoor rock climbing and indoor squash room . Our college is 25 km awam from main city so there is no hangout spot outside our collge campus .
