What Students Say
Likes
- Plenty opportunities for various fields, some of those for btech are hackathons, internship programs, etc, and also placement opportunities.
- Vibrant campus life with constant fests, seminars, club activities etc.
- A lot of the faculty is excellent and very helpful.
Dislikes
- Too many students, therefore opportunities thin out as do club activities.
- I feel that a lot more can and should be taught to the students, especially for B.Tech students who require many skills.
- Many of the students highly dilute the ambitious enviornment required for motivation.
Course Curriculum Overview
I would say that our curriculum does provide a good base required for computer science engineering, it covers all the important subjects like OS, CN, DSA, DBMS etc, and also covers a few of the majority languages required, there are also personality development subjects. However, as the engineering field grows more competitive, the need for extra skills also grows, and I'm finding that I'm having to learn a lot of those on my own. We have exams every 1.5 months approximately.
Internships Opportunities
Some of the top recruiters in JECRC are TCS, Accenture, Microsoft, etc. The average packages are 6-7lpa, and highest is 52lpa. There are also internship opportunities for 3rd years students especially those in 5th semester, and the mentors also keep the students updated about outside internship opportunities.
Placement Experience
I would say that the placement opportunities for our college are okay, and would be good if not for so many students, however, I have not yet sat for the placements. The students are eligible for placements from the 4th year and placement training begins from the 3rd year. Apparently, the placement record for my course is 90%.
Fees and Financial Aid
•The year-wise fee I pay is ?1,95,000 (?97,500). The tution fee is ?97,500 per semester, and the admission fee is ?10,000 •There are scholarship provided, as follows : 15% scholarship for students whose board percentage was above 70% ; 20% scholarship for those with 85% above and there are similar scholarships for JEE scores as well which is mentioned on the JECRC website.
Campus Life
The infrastructure of the college is good enough, it's not too big nor is it too small, and the lawns and gardens are also good. The college is also still in the process of expanding. We have an annual fest Rhythm, which is a three day event, but apart from that as well there are many hackathons, seminars and other events, at all times. The facilities and technologies in my college is also good enough. The student clubs are many good, however due to a large number of students, only the core members get opportunities.
Admission
I was unsure about both my college and course until the last possible second, and so JECRC was a safe and good option as it also has many courses. As for the admission process, I applied through the website online and submitted my necessary documents and then I was admitted.
Faculty
• I would say the faculty to student ratio is pretty good, since there's only around 60 students in our class, half the faculty are approachable and very helpful whereas the other half are rude and too harsh. • Some of the professors I really like were Ms. Pratyeksha for c++, Ms. Ramandeep Brar for DBMS, and Mr. Abhishek Sharma for DSA. All of them were excellent teachers, helpful, understanding and respectful towards the students. • We have a total of 4 exams, excluding practicals, 1st in-sem, 2nd in-sem, 3rd in-sem (for those who missed the 1st or 2nd) and end-sem examinations.
Night Life
There is no nightlife around JECRC, it is basically in an industrial village area, there is only one gym in walking distance which is also mainly for boys, even the hostels only have a boys gym. However, there are many gyms, cafes, hospitals, and fast food chains as well as other necessities in a 6km radius from the college which are accessible enough through public transport. The hostel timings for girls are 7pm and for boys around 9, and they are very strict with the hostels. The locality isn't exactly safe to roam around after 8:30 for girls as it basically is industrial area. And there are plenty hangout places in and around campus as well .
