Course Curriculum Overview

5

I love MBBS and knowing everything about the human body and how to treat diseases really powers me through. It's a beautiful designation of gratification. The curriculum really prepares us well for real world applications and MBBS is such a course where hospital postings teach you about how a real life scenario would feel like. I feel SGTs and SDLs that is small group teachings and self decided learnings should be stopped as I feel they don't yield as much. The exams are of moderate difficulty and are frequently conducted at an interval of 2 and a half month

Internships Opportunities

2

You have to do a compulsory internship in the hospital and stipend you get is 15000 rupees. The only aim is to learn and help in the process of hospitals such as registering cases putting them under schemes getting blood samples

Fees and Financial Aid

GENERAL QUOTA ADMISSION Tution fees:1655000 Development fees: 165000 Health card:2500 Other fees : 2500 KEA QUOTA ADMISSION (Karnataka living people) Total fees per year :500000 NRI QUORA ADMISSION Total fees per year: 3100000 There is no other scholarship as such in this college other than kannada scholarships

Campus Life

4

There are no fests conducted in this college. The last fest was conducted in 2018 and none after that. From here you can go to AFMC pune of INVICTUS Manipal which are only 8hr bus rides away but good luck trying to get attendance for these because you have to maintain a strict 80 percent attendance. The library here is amazing and immaculate. Honestly it's one of the best libraries. There is no medical book you won't find here. Absolutely everything and any book can be found here. There is also a 24/7 open reading room for students with guards in the library 24/7 as well. With regards to extracurricular activities there is very less sports conducted here. I don't think they are enthusiastic and the only sports conducted here is interuniversity sports meet where we compete against BDS, ALLIED, PHYSIOTHERAPY etc We do conduct a fun week in May of every year and that contains fun activities conducted by various groups of student council. There is a theatre club called Masquetheatresociety and you can check them on Instagram and a photography club named Yugen which is also on Instagram.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel is an amazing place. It is lively and full of students. Intime is a little strict and guards are very nosy but it is otherwise safe and loaded with CCTVs. In room they give 2 beds, an attached washroom, study table, chair and two cupboards. Since hostel is actively undergoing renovation the rooms have become very much better. They are more modern and liveable. You can opt for NRI hostel also which has all single rooms available but cost is a bit more around 1,51,000 per year including mess. The food in the mess is actually nice and hygienic. I don't know anything about room renting outside or PGs

Admission

I applied to KMC Manipal and JSS mysore but i couldn't get through because of the cutoff score of that years NEET UG as these are high cutoff colleges. This is the only college I got a confirmed admission from and this in itself is a very prestigious college which was developed back in 1963. Neet UG went wrong. Everyone please study because my colleges cutoff was 436 out of 720 in NEET UG. And for JSS was 460. Kmc manipal toh was a different league only. I thought I would get into it in stray round but then also it was at 600 so there was no chance. The admission experience was actually very smooth and nice with them calling us to a convention centre and telling us the details of the fees and everything about the hostel in a calm manner and they also took 10th and 12th boards original certificate and this you will get only when you complete your MBBS degree and not before that. Other than that my friends have also tried KS hegde college which they found moderate at best. In campus terms this college was the best

Faculty

5

Faculty to student ratio is 1:30 and most of the professors are approachable and are highly skilled in solving all your queries. Keep a lookout for Dr shirol in Anatomy who is an absolute genius and also for Dr Shantala in Physiology. The college is full of deemed professors and if you want more information on them then visit jnmc.edu where you can look at faculties under the department dropbox. Hands down best faculty is of surgery and medicine in the college. There are 3 IAs and one finals and they are mid level difficult. They always put a few tricky questions. Usually around 10-15 people fail and the questions are from the curriculum itself

Night Life

1

Nightlife in belgaum is absolutely zero. Everything closes at 10 and after 11 you will not see a soul here on the streets. There is a gym in our campus which opens at 5:30 am and closes at 10:30 Pm and it costs 14k per year. Hostel and campus timings are to be inside before 9 and after 9 entries will be fined late and there are hefty fines which they cut from your deposit money of hostel. In campus Cafe Jnmc is a very popular hangout spot and mostly everyone goes there in between posting and classes to chill, eat and drink. Locality here isn't safe to roam at night.
