What Students Say
Likes
- A positive initiative by the college is to provide free lunch both veg and non veg for all students every day without failing. This is beneficial for many kids who come from afar or for kids who aren't financially blessed to eat from the canteen
- Another important attribute is the ease of transportation that is the student can reach the college with ease due to its huge bus system that targets reaching every crook and corner of chennai
Dislikes
- Faculty that you can actually connect with are probably a handful other than them the rest are moody police officers
- The restrooms of commerce block are worse than many public restrooms with no proper water supply....
- Although the college claims to have 100+ clubs the students really aren't given the right exposure to its clubs...also any dreams of sporty adventures must be thrown away as you cannot participate unless you are a hosteler
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum of B.Com FA is the best amongst the commerce group as it guides you upto CA's intermediate exams within it's 3 year gap... The college has a LOT to offer in terms of courses to study ranging from commerce engineering to medical related courses.... The quality of courses in sathyabama is one of it's highlights as it holds a good value in the market in terms of knowledge and package
Placement Experience
Im not sure about campus recruitment... but through what i heard from seniors and faculty the campus placements are really good provided you put in the efforts.... my plan is to pursue ca and join my articleship after college
Fees and Financial Aid
i opted for Bcom FA which integrates CA with bcom ie: we only the study the ca syllabus and nothing apart from that Year 1 fees : 145000 (paid) Year 2 fees : 135000 (yet to pay) Year 3 fees : 145000 ( yet to pay) this includes the entire fee even transportation.
Campus Life
The college as i said has almost no active clubs that would want you except for dance and music... Library is impressive with wide array of books satisfying everyone's needs Classrooms which are shown to the general public look so good but in reality the classrooms and corridors of bcom are to be honest just depressihg and bad. Day scholar = No sports As a kid who has excelled in football anywhere i went my college has been the worst when it came to identifying talents or just let the students participate in any sports at all A positive amongst these negatives are students themselves forming groupchats with similar minded people and thriving in their small society
Admission
Shiv Nadar university was my alternative which in my opinion is a better college if you are willing to spend 3 Lakhs per year on tution... but my main reason was just that sathyabama is closer compared to ssn which is nearly on the outskirts of the city.... Sathyabama was an accident for me as i just accompanied my friend who was on a lookout for an engineering college within the city... the admission process is so easy that i was able to apply with no prior preparation... I'm not sure whether my score in 12th grade was good but all they asked for was 50000 in advance and the rest to be paid within a 20 day period.
Faculty
Although faculty are well equipped with phds and knowledge a good teacher is someone who can transport his knowledge in a fun and easy way...this quality is lacked in 3 out of the 5 staffs that I learn from on a daily basis...Stories from my colleagues belonging to the engineering department are also similar with one his professor disregarding OD(on duty) as a trash and marking students absent when they are out attending events
Night Life
as a day scholar you are not allowed to leave the college until 3 15 pm... inside the campus you cannot really go anywhere other than the one hour of break that you get... this break will be consumed by standing in queue for tokens in canteen for me. if any time is left after lunch the only hangout spot is probably the canteen itself or corridors as any other place is either too hot or is filled with security that dont want you to sit down for too long
