Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is not the best. But it's okay for the academic side. When it comes to real life the curriculum is average. But the college provides enought extra curricular competitions and events to get through it.

Internships Opportunities

3

The curriculum has mandatory intership requirements for the students. Each year there's 5 places that we have to do the intership. By the end of our final year we have to complete 120 days if interships. It's usually goverment offices and law organisation and it's not paid.

Placement Experience

3

The college does have a placement program. It's mainly to companies which have a law department. I don't specifically know the companies but I've heard it offers great exposure. The companies include Technopark companies, UST etc. The package starts from 20000 per month and maybe above according to our profile. My personal loan after the couse is to practice law as an advocate and then go for the judgeship programe.

Fees and Financial Aid

The main tution fees is 35000 in allotment basis (merit) and 55000 for management seats. There is a caution deposit of 50000 for all. I don't remember the other fees but my total admission fees came upto a sum around 2 lakhs.

Campus Life

4

The college has enough fests in every year. It has the usual christmas and Onam programmes plus the Annual day celebration. It also has an ethnic day and food fest which is held on the mid of ebruary and also sports day held in January. The other activities include academic competitions like moot courts, mun, etc. The college library is one of the best part of the college. The library is big enough and has a wide collection of academic books. It has one of the biggest collection of law books in Kerala too. The college also has legal clinics and clubs like eco club, centre for various law related subjects like competitive studes, constitutional law, maritime law, etc

Admission

Basically I got this college in allotment basis. It was not my first choice. But it's not the worst college. Apart from the academics being too tough, the college is actually not so bad. But the academics is usually this tough in the law courses everywhere so that's reasonable too. I did get rejections because I didn't have enough marks in the entrance exams. If you have 500 and above on the KLEE entrance you'll get to the government colleges which was in fact my first option.

Faculty

4

There are enough faculty members in the law subjects but the non law subjects faculties are only a few. I have has the same faculty for a piticular subject for 3 years now and that person is not too great when it comes to teaching. But there are some very great faculties too. Most of them are very understanding and very friendly. Easier to understand language and teaching methods. They provide us with enough study materials to pass the subject too. Each semester has 3-5 university exams depending on which couse you opt for. They also have 2 internal exams plus seminars and assignments for the internal marks. Also the attendance is also required for internal marks.

Night Life

1

The nightlife is pretty dull in the campus. it's not open after 6 or 7. The college doesn't have hangout spots except the college canteen which also closes around the time the class is over which is upto 3pm. The hostel timings is upto 6pm.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The moot court competitions and debate competitions are conducted many times in a year which are very useful for a law student.I wish if there are more interested college competitions then it would be more useful.Usually there is a gap of six months between two exams and during that period students get enough time for preperation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the curriculum 3.5 out of 5 . The major con is that the curriculum in Government law College Thiruvananthapuram is solely made for litigation in the court . There is less scope for corporate level studies. Curriculum is up to date and I personally think that several other act should be added for real world application like insurance law , narcotics abkari act are not included. Exams are usually on time comparing to other universities in Kerala still it's not conducted nearly after the semester ends
