What Students Say
Likes
- I really appreciated the presence of a stationary and printing centre inside the campus which makes it easier for students to print out last minute project prints and also buy stationary but could improve the infrastructure of it
- The canteen also has a variety of food items and quick delivery of the ordered food and tables to sit and eat at
- The IoT laboratory is a very important laboratory and the equipment and kit provided are up to date and well maintained
Dislikes
- All the laboratories except IoT laboratory currently have outdated equipments and computers and need to updated to the latest versions
- Most of the professors only know the regional language (tamil) so if you're a student from outside of tamil nadu then it will be a little difficult for you to adapt to this new environment
- The campus life is dull here as it is very small and nothing much can be done here
Course Curriculum Overview
Hardware engineers are more in demand than software engineers in the industry as there are more computer science engineers than electronic engineers. I had a liking for the hardware part of computers since my youth and decided to take this liking and turn it into both my passion as well as my profession, hence my choice of course being ECE.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities are unpaid internships and after completing every internship offered by the college, an internship report needs to be submitted to the college as this counts for your credits that can boost up your marks in semester exams.
Placement Experience
The companies that come during placements are well known companies and the placements happen at Rajalakshmi Engineering College (REC). Both REC and RIT are under Rajalakshmi Institutions and the placements happen collectively from both the colleges. The REC campus is 13 kilometres away from the RIT campus and the average salary package is 6LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
i am one of the last pre-autonomous batches of my college so my fee structure is as follows: 1. Tuition Fees - 87000 per year 2. Industrial Visits - 35000 per year 3. Laboratory Fee - 35000 per year 4. Sports and Culturals - 35000 per year 5. Transport - 33000 per year Total - 225000 per year The above split is for the management quota through which I took admission in this college. Students going through Management Quota should also pay a donation amount at the start of the course as a one time payment. The donation amount varies from course to course. The fees for counseling students was 160000 per year but after the college turned autonomous the fees shot up to 225000 per year and for management quota the fees shot up to about 350000 per year.
Campus Life
There's the NSA club, Yuva club, Rotaract club and language clubs such as the English club, tamil club and also telugu club all run by students. The clubs arrange various events every month where the members of the clubs are asked to participate and get certificates of participation.
Admission
I had applied for SRM and VIT for the same course but I couldn't get admission in any of them as my performance in their entrance tests were weak and and got assigned the lowest category which hiked the fees up for me. Im talking about 5 lakhs a year which was very expensive and unaffordable on my side. Rajalakshmi institutions has a very good name in the state of Tamil Nadu and the reason why I decided to go for this college.
Faculty
The faculties here are well qualified and have a deep understanding about the subjects but the only drawback is the language barrier. The professors here are comfortable with the regional language tamil and speak broken english. This language barrier becomes a problem when you are from outside of tamil nadu and are not familiar with the regional language. The faculties are very friendly and few of them are very strict in both behaviour and exam correction. Now, about the exam pattern, 3 CAT (Chapter Assessment Test) exam are held in every semester of 50 marks each exam and these marks are one of the factors that decide your internals along with other factors such as assignments, attendance, etc. if you fail your internals then there is a very low chance of you clearing your semester exams. Semester exams are of 100 marks each paper and semester practicals are of 50 marks each practical paper.
Night Life
Since I am a day scholar and not a hosteller, I won't be able to give clear insights of the night life of my college. But from what I heard from a few of my hosteller friends is that since the college is located on a highway there is nothing to roam around outside of college so it's pretty boring.
Other Applied Colleges
Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electronics & Communication Engineering)
I wrote the exam but my performance wasn't good enough to achieve 1st category so I couldn't take admission
