Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is fantastic. In the 1st year basic are taught about anatomy of human body as well as dental anatomy. These subjects prepare base for our further understanding of the proffesion. In the further years clinical practice is also done to enhance the skills.
Internships Opportunities
After the completion of four year course, internship is started. There are various departments in the hospital where you are alloted to do the hospital duties. Stipend offered is 15000 for every student.
Fees and Financial Aid
1st year fee 80000 10% increment in subsequent year. For SC scholarship is awarded. Hostel fee is 46000. Stipend awarded during internship is around 15000. Extra charges like exam fee registration fee etc are applied.
Campus Life
Life at the college is very happening. Twice or thrice college functions are organised. College magazine is published every year where one can show their talent in whatever field they are good at. Whether it is poetry, drawing, painting, etc.
Hostel Facilities
You are provided a bed table almirah and a chair in the room. Size of room is quite small. Since hostels are old, walls are not in very good position. Food in the mess is okay. Not too good but not so bad as well. You are given option to choose hostel. Once you have selected the room as per availability, you are alloted.
Admission
I applied for many colleges but GDC was my first choice in Punjab. This is because this college has separate hospital for dentistry. This provided good exposure with patients for the students . This helps to enhance the skill which is very important for a dentist.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is okay. Faculties are not very approachable but seniors are always there to help. Every professor is good and doing their job. There is yearly examination. Paper level is moderate.
Night Life
GDC is located at the centre of the amritsar city. All the places yo hangout like restrount cafe shops movie theatre etc are accessable distance. Most famous place Golden Temple is at walking distance from college. Hostel timing is quite strict. Hostel close at 8 oclock for girls. However there is no such thing for boys.
