Likes
- Things are diverse here. We get to see a lot of people from different states sometimes different nationalities.
- Here there's a process called FFCS which lets you select your profs. Some of the profs here are worse that ur lectures at jr collage. But some are ok
- The attendance policy here is also a plus as you can escape classes if you don't feel like going. You can chill out at the ground or fs. If you get more than 9gpa you aren't considered in the attendance policy.
Dislikes
- The servers for the Ffcs process are the worst. You have to stare at the buffering screen most of the time. You won't get your preferred profs i can assure you that.
- Hostels are overpriced here. It costs hell a lot more than SRM and Vishnu. And you have to stay at the central block which is where the classes are going on, as there is a shortage of hostels. Mh1 has been changed to lh3 as ladies don't have enough.
- Mess here is how you generally expect at a hostel but just a higher price. It's ok somedays.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is good. There is a credit system which lets you select the course you want to pursue. You can even choose double major. There is a process which lets you choose your specialization. There are some predetermined couses if you want to pursue specialization.
Placement Experience
Placements aren't that good tha past 2 years due to recession. But before that we got some placement over 50lakhs. But still the average package is around 7 lakhs. Since there are speculations of Google office is being set up at vizag we may get offers from Google too.
Fees and Financial Aid
Generally in Vit the fee structure is divided into 5 categories. The first one being 2 lakhs and wnd one 3 lakhs and soon. The category depends on the rank recieved in VITEEE. There is govt quota available while depends on your EAMCET rank. I joined through the govt quota and I don't have any reservations so the base fee was 73000 and it may increase in the future. The fee decreases for SC,ST and BC categories. There is also a Star category which depends on ur Ap board exam marks as they select 10 or more students from each district.
Campus Life
Clubs are a main highlight here. Everyday there's some event going on. Vtapp and vitopia are the biggest events here. For vitopia dsp and thaman visited evn jonitha gandhi visited Vit-ap. There's a pretty big Library here and online library too.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is overpriced as I mentioned before. As I am writing this review, the ac stopped working in my room. Its happening everyday. I am a student staying in mh4 the mess is good when compared to others. There are a heck a lot of additional fees which make it very price. I would suggest you to get your accommodation outside as there are lots of pgs available near vit.
Admission
I am from ap. Most of the students in Ap prefer Vit ap as it the top most collage in Andhra Pradesh. Most of the jr collages in Andhra Pradesh makes you write the entrance exams of every collage. So mostly Andhra students are in Vit. Like 50%
Faculty
Faculty ratio to students isn't that good. There are sometimes 100 students in a class. The class may not be that engaging as there are so many students in the class. It may feel crowded at some times. There are some professors who are just name sake profs. They may have knowledge but they aren't teaching anything.
Interview Experience
There was no group discussion interview for the admission process. But I had to go through the counciling proceed of EAMCET. If you haven't attempted EAMCET to join this university you have to attempt VITEEE.
Night Life
Food street and rockplaza are the only food places here. After 6/7 you can see students roaming around as gangs. Till 8:30 they allow people to roam around. After that we have to return to our hostels. Maggie hotspot is also a hangout place. You can get some decent food here. Paid gym and normal gym is also available here. They are decent having most of the basic equipment. Paid gym has more facilities when compared to unpaid gym.
