Dislikes
- In case of infrastructure, only the washrooms are not well maintained. The ramp facilities for the disabled students are also lacking causing inconvenience for the disabled student.
- Other than teaching in the classroom, being a science student having an educational trip would be better for effective learning. A field research would be helpful.
- The quality of social interaction is average. Having our own separate departments and studying whole day in the same restrict us from interacting with the students of other departments. There is a lack of public lectures on the common hall.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course does prepares well and the zoology is an interesting subject to choose. The course is relevant if you are going further for research or pHD, otherwise in real world, doing such course isn't much help in getting jobs and is very rare in India getting jobs related to this field. The frequency and timing of exams is fine. Having two semester exams in a year is fine. The duration of exam of 2 or 3 hours is absolutely fine. The level of exam is average.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fee is around ?20,000 per annum overall including laboratory and maintenance fees for ST category. There is an availability of National Scholarship Portal for ST students. I got ?60000 only. General students have a tuition fees of around ?25,000 annually.
Campus Life
There were not much extra curricular activities other than a painting or quiz competition. There were not any social clubs for social interactions. The University is all about academic learning, only book references. The use of technology is also minimal. There were no smart classes.
Hostel Facilities
The rent of the hostel is very less and cheap, costing only ?7000 as admission fees for 2 years and ?1000 every month for the mess. The admission is based on the merit. The quality of the meal is average. The menu is simple with not much variation of foods.
Admission
I have applied for the University of Delhi as well for pursuing master degree. I couldn't get it. This is because I couldn't score well in the entrance exam which was a tough exam. The University also provide very minimun seats. So I applied for the University of Jammu. I got admission on my category selection. I gave entrance exam for this University and i could clear the ST category cut off.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is fine and adequate. The access to faculty member is easy and versatile. I like every faculty as they are helpful and approachable. There are 4 semesters exams for our course. Two semester exam in a year. None of the students failed in exam. The exams both theory and practical are average . Even viva exam is also conducted. The exam is fully relevant to the course.
Night Life
The night life in campus is peaceful and safe. Hostel life is good, having a library and parks. The hostel is simple and doesn't have any gym or other facilities. The hostel timing for entry at night is 7pm. The locality is quite safe.
