Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum is pretty student friendly, easy to follow and stress free. Its made as simple as possible so that students can easily understand and follow through with it. The only drawback is the assignment load. Most of these are written for the sake of writing for very few marks. Most of the times, they are not checked and is a waste of time.

Fees and Financial Aid

Per year the academic fees is about 1,55,000. This includes the tuition fee, lab fees, examination fee. The hostel fee is around 77,000 This is for the general category. Various government scholarships are available that can be applied for by the student themselves.

Campus Life

5

Our department has a library that is accessible to all students during class hours upto 7 pm after class hours. The library has a vast collection of journals, ebooks, and books relevant to the subjects offered. The library also has free WiFi and access to computers. Various extracurricular programs like Cultural fests, sports day, ffreshers day, onam celebration, diwali celebration, etc are conducted by the student council and faculty. The college also hosts annual concerts and convocations, inter-collegiate events and inter-university activities

Hostel Facilities

4

Separate hostels for boys and girls. Three sharing rooms with common bathrooms on the floor. 4 toilets (western) and bathing areas on one side of the floor and 4+4 on the other side. There are three cupboards and three tables and chairs in each room along with a cot. Food is provided in the mess. Non veg is provided on Wednesdays and Fridays. Students are allowed to order through zomato and swiggy. PGs are available for rent near and around the campus

Admission

I had tried to apply to MAHE, but they said the admission was closed. However, two days after my admission into the current college, they opened admissions again. The fees structure of MAHE was pretty much more expensive compared to NISH and the facilities weren't that great. The admission process in NISH was quite easy. Most of it was done online

Faculty

4

Each student is appointed a mentor. Each mentor has a maximum of three students to ensure equal and appropriate attention is given to all. The mentees can approach their mentors anytime without any hesitation and are always ready to help. So far, there are 7 teaching faculties in the speech language department and 7 teaching faculties in the audiology department. The clinical faculty includes 3 clinical supervisors in audiology and 3 clinical supervisors in speech language pathology. Apart from this, there are two librarians and 4 officer faculty members. Two sessionals are conducted per semester followed by an internal viva and semester end exam which includes the external viva. Most of these are easy to pass.

Night Life

5

Students can hangout around the campus until 7 pm on weekdays and 8 pm on weekends (for the hostelites). There are cafeterias within the campus and lots of cafes and restaurants around the campus. There is a gym and an indoor stadium within the campus. The gym opens at 6 am in the morning and closes aft 8pm in the night. It is closed on Sundays. The locality is monitored by securities and is safe for students
