Course Curriculum Overview

5

I chose AI due to my personal interests . The course curriculum includes several topics which are required in the modern era of tech like web3 , webDev , IOT , AI . They even teach Technical communications to teach you the communication skills in an organisation . I believe the teaching is not only on the papers but also practically whatever we learn , we learn it in labs also . We have projects , presentation , test which helps us to understand and apply the skills that we learn during the course .

Fees and Financial Aid

For the first semester the fees would be around 1.44lakhs and for the upcoming all semester it would be around 90k , it includes the complete fee including hostel fee , mess fee , tuition fees for a Hosteller . For Students with Self finance the fee per semester would be 2 times the fees of a normal student .

Campus Life

4

In overall the campus life is good , because of ongoing new campus development there are less students in the campus which affects the number of events and social life . The infrastructure is good , it includes all the required stuffs for learning including the labs , classroom , sports ground . There are 2 canteens , 2 Nescafe spots , 2 stationary and printing shops inside the campus . There is a 3 floor library which have all the books required for the students , we can sit in the library and read books or we can borrow books from the library .Overall the library facility is good . There are clubs like abhiyanta , GYB , coding clubs , saptak etc. to keeps you engaged in the campus activities ( and these are really good ) . There is only one sports ground which have facility for football , cricket , volleyball , badminton etc. In the sac building we have the facility for badminton , volleyball , table tennis etc. So overall the sports facilities are good.

Admission

I applied to other colleges also like NIT Kurukshetra (due to my homestate Haryana) , Nit Warangal , Nit Trichy , Nit Bhopal etc. but couldn't get into them due to high cutoffs and finally i got NIT Patna . While Most students preffered NIT Jamsedpur over NIT Patna , but i preferred NIT Patna over NIT Jamsedpur after looking at the progress that NIT Patna is making , it's placements ratio , feedback from past alumni's and it's new campus and i would say i was right . The admission process includes clearing the NIMCET exams with rank around 500 for general category , 600 for OBC and it can go till 3000 for SC/ST . For self finance students the ranks could go till 700 (general) , 750 (OBC) and 4000(SC/ST) . After clearing the cutoffs we are required to pay the partial and complete fees and then visit the campus for document verification . The document verification process is done in the student activity center which is just beside the sports ground . You can come with your luggage on the same day because hostels are alloted on the same day and you can start living there.

Faculty

5

The faculty to student ration is good . Most of the faculties are kind and supportive , faculties are available on the given time else we have the faculty scholar to which we can approach and ask for any doubts . Per semester we have 5 exams and difficulty of the exams is medium . Topics coming in the exams are taught by the professors in the class .Rarely 1 or 2 student fails to clear the exams . The Syllabus is revelant to the current technologies , it includes topics like AI , Web3 , IOT . In the start of the semester professors starts from the very basics (like c language ) and till end of course they touch advanced topics relevant to the industry .Overall the faculty member are awesome

Night Life

3

The Nighlife around the college is good . In the front of the main gate we have the NIT Road flashed with stalls and little shops of all fast foods . On the ghat side we have a floating restaurant , boating facility , a open cafe . It is one of the best place for enjoying the evenings . We have Marine drive where we can go for morning walk . On the main road (i.e Ashok Rajpath ) we have shops , some cafes and restaurants but due to ongoing metro project work all of these lack in providing the facilities . The Hostel timing for girls and boys hostels are 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM respectively . After 9:00 pm Most of the facilties inside the campus like cafeteria , Nescafe's got closed . The library got closed around 7:00 pm . The gym is open from Monday to friday . In the Night it is safe to roam around , but try not to go alone . There are unwanted activities and peoples (normally at each and every such place ) . Overall it's safe .

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is also average. Its updated but in IT sector you need updation in every 4 or 5 years according to the industry needs as this is a master's course. Our professor in charge always try to update it. But in Bihar there are so many difficulties in universities to update syllabus every 5 years. It was changed once in a decade . About teaching methods, many teachers teach us accordingly to the practical approach of coding, but i think try project based studying approach can be make you a industry ready programmer.

The positive thing is about the college is the fee structure which is very low and the infrastructure is also good. The negative thing about the college is the syllabus which is too old. The syllabus should be the latest because the company wants the students who study the latest trending subject.
