- As a student of Biotech, we require lot of lab work and for that we need proper lab equipment which is provided in this college. The biotech lab are well developed and includes all machinery/ equipment one needed for research purposes.
- fee is really minimal, its affordable . As a middle class person I can afford to spend this much money for pg course.
Dislikes
- The permanent faculties are very less. In almost all department there are only 2 or 3 permanent faculties , and remaining are guest faculties .
- one professor looks up to multiple jobs which affects the student's study.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have a very keen interest in studying biotechnology for agricultural aspects. As biotech advances technological aspects of agriculture help in increased yield and better farming with reduced diseases and infestation. these aspects of biotech made me choose this course. In RVSKVV, Gwalior, there is a well-maintained lab for research work in agricultural technology. learning practically about DNA isolation techniques, and gene manipulation techniques using PCR and gel electrophoresis helps develop an in-depth experience in research work which prepares me for real-world research work. Improvement areas could include, hiring more lab professionals in the department.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for the course that I am opting for, M.sc. Agriculture Biotech, includes an extra fee for lab work, which is 10,825 per semester. Other fee structures common for all the departments per semester include: enrolment fee: 440 caution money, for college: 850 for library:850 tuition fee: 16240 application fee: 525 examination fee: 665 lab fee: 865 library fee: 865 degree: 785 The scholarship for OBC (only ones with free seats) is 100%, which is rs.40,000 per year, and for sc, st (includes both paid or free seats) maintenance + academics scholarship: rs. 40,000 + some amount of maintenance fee they get which is still in process. other charges include hostel caution money- rs. 850 per semester, mess caution money- rs. 1695 per semester.
Campus Life
There are technical fests held almost every week like there was a rally on soil day, etc. books and journals are accessible Monday to Friday. As the campus is off on Saturday we can not avail of the library benefits on holidays. smart class is there. professors use smart classes for smart teaching. sports room is open to use till 5 pm. All the sports equipment are available to use and play such as tennis, badminton, cricket etc.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are not very good. three people reside in two-seater rooms as they lack availability of rooms. no personal washrooms are available. quantity of meal is good enough but the quality is quite compromising. registration is during admission time only.
Admission
I gave a joint entrance test for RVSKVV and JNKVV for m.sc. admission and after filling up the counselling form I got selected for the RVSKVV, Gwalior campus. because my UG was from a private college, I couldn't get a chance to fill 1st the counselling form first because they prefer only the JNKVV-RVSKVV students first and then allow other college students to apply. So I got my course and college preference in the second round of counselling. The overall cutoff for admission is, for OBC : 42 marks for sc, st: 36 marks for general: 48 marks
Faculty
In the biotech department, there are a total of 6 students, 2 girls and 4 boys for which 2 faculties are there. faculties are approachable during times of need also are supportive. but, because one faculty has many other jobs besides teaching it becomes quite difficult for faculties to manage the student's academics effectively. My HOD Dr. SHUSHMA TIWARI mam is my favourite one as she is supportive towards my goal. there are no faculty as such that I dislike, all of them fit their jobs well. The exams include mid-term and final theory exams. total of 150 marks exam is taken here which includes 50 for practicals, 20 for mid-term and 80 for the final theory exam. exams are quite easy except for the statistics which becomes quite difficult to clear because the syllabus is very vast and can include anything, sometimes asked out of the syllabus in the exam.
Night Life
We do not have nightlife as we are enclosed in the hostel after 7 pm and are not allowed to step out after closing time. The hostel Gym is not in working condition, the library is open till 6 pm and not after that. The girl's hostel is in Krishi colony where all the campus faculties reside, so the girl's hostel is safe and secure around. famous hangout places outside campus: 1. The Jain tea tapri in the bus stand which is just outside the colony area. 2. The food court in DB mall which is again in front of the colony. 3. The famous tea spot where we spend time with friends is Tealogy at Gole Ka mandir, it's around 2 km from the campus.
