Course Curriculum Overview

4

I am currently pursuing my BE civil engineering, I made this decision to prepare for the government exams of Tamil Nadu where we have several roles than any other engineering students. I will rate 3.5 out 5 for the real world application that a faculty gives you from their experience, but it is only based on your intrest to improve yourself in your field of engineering. Odd semester will be about 5-6 months while the even semester is about 4-5 months.

Internships Opportunities

5

Half of the students in every department is provided with the fund based on the criteria followed by our college to complete their intership out of the college campus. We have mini project and main project in our seventh and eighth semester of our final year. We are undergoing a mentorship guidance of our department facilities to complete our project.

Placement Experience

4

Placement in our college is not compulsory. It is based on your choice of placement or any other higher education plans. The hod of all the departments and alumini of our college has a part in our placement cell . The alumini of our colleges give their experience in their field of expertise about their current working company.

Fees and Financial Aid

I was selected to this college in general oc category by tnea councelling with the cut - off 182.8 out of 200. I am currently pursuing my BE (Hons)specialized in civil engineering , at Government College of Engineering, Salem. For the first year initially I paid 5,000 as deposit and academic fees of 9,000 .Exam fees is based on number of papers you have for the semester( i.e Rs.225 per theory and practical paper and other fees for grade sheet is 220) Apart from this my hostel fees is almost 11,000 for the first year. Additionally monthly fees of 2500 was paid for my food . Then to next all three years of college my academic fees is about below 15,000 each year including exam fees for 2 semester in a year.. and my hostel fees is about below 8000 per year (without including mess fees 2 to 2.5 k per month ). Caste regulated scholarship is available for the students of lower economy level . Especially the first graduate of a family is having separate lower level fees structure in our college. The students of 7.5 % category from government school have no fees all over the three years , additional to that they are claiming 1,000 per month from the government of tamilnadu in the name of scholarship puthumaipenn and thamizh puthalvan . Every year our department of civil engineering provides alumini scholarship of 10,000 to the top 2 students of every year out of 120 students .

Campus Life

5

Compared to other colleges, we really have a large area of college campus. We have each and every department seperately with spacious between them to provide peaceful environment from noise .we a music, dance , Rotaract, english, tamil, etrics, arts clubs in our college . Also we have sports like volley ball, basketball, ball badminton, cricket , and athletic. As I told we have smart class projectors recently organised by the authorities of our college.

Hostel Facilities

4

Comparing with private colleges, we usually have a 10 percentage of their hostel fees.food in the hotel mess is rated 3.5 out of 5 because we used to get bored of the routine menu.. but we have the option of changing menu of hostel food twice a year. We have to pay online payment of below 10 thousand for staying in hostel. However monthly fees within 2,500 is mandatory for all the hostel members.

Admission

In tamilnadu, government school may have some sort of issues in the parents' point of view. But their point of view to the government colleges is really high when compared to private colleges. Most of the private colleges feels like studying school spoon feed methods.. I choose this course in my college to become an engineer in a economical way with the reputation of my institute. BE course requires 12 th or diploma cut off while the ME course requires tancet exam score .

Faculty

4

Your first year of college is totally different from your next three years. First year will be with the basic engineering subjects like maths physics and chemistry. You'll meet the faculties of that particular subject during class hours and lab hours. Apart from that you can meet them personally in their cabins to clarify your doubts . You can make yourself comfortable to speak out and clarify your doubts. The other three years you will be educated with the department you choose at the beginning of the course. Being honest..At second year you'll have little confusions and fear of approaching your department facilities.. as the time passes you'll understand the requirements of the faculty and become friendly by bringing out the best in you. You'll have 8 semester each semester will have 8 papers of both theory and practical.. apart from that there will be some extra credit course and extra curricular activities to be completed for your completion of entire degree.

Interview Experience

5

No written test or group discussion or interview for the admission process as we have the merit cut - off in 12 th standard to get admission in our colleges , we are one of the top reputed college in tamil nadu. You have to apply for tnea councelling to get admission in our college

Night Life

3

We have gym , canteen other than hostel mess facilities, an e - Library apart from the library, seating area in front of the department to ralx during the break hours. Boys have the permission to wander in nights while the girls are restricted after 6.30 pm for the safety measures followed almost 50 years .
