Likes
- The extracurricular academic activities at the department
- Friendly teachers who were always available to help
- Library with access to a plethora of resources and books.
Dislikes
- The curriculum needs to be updated and revised
- Lab experiments have to be conducted in a way where everyone gets a chance to practice
- There is a huge difference between what is asked in the industry and what is being taught
Course Curriculum Overview
The course in the first part of the degree is useless as it is mainly 11th-12th grade stuff. There is a huge leap in the difficulty of the content once you are in second year. The course curriculum needs to be updated as there is a huge disparity in the industry demands and what is being taught.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition Fees-60000 Other fees (Caution fees, registration fees, admission fees, development fees, sports facilities fees, lab fees) -4000 Scholarships available for SC and ST, but it is usually reimbursed.
Campus Life
There are various extracurricular activities that the department carries out. The NSS unit is very active and takes care of the environment in the campus. There are also several preparatory activities that are taking place in the campus.
Admission
I didn't apply to any other colleges as this was my first choice and i wanted to study in my hometown as I was going to do Masters abroad. So being a day scholar was more important to me. The admission to this college is usually on merit basis
Faculty
The student teacher ratio was 74:1. The teachers were all well read and helpful. Some of them even helped us with the preparation for the university and entrance exams. They would go above and beyond to help us with our problems.
Night Life
Being in Surat, the night life is non-existent. There is a curfew for girls hostel. The gym and the canteen close by 6 in the evening. There are pretty good hangout spots nearby the university where students can chill, study or relax.
