Remarks
The entrance process, including the entrance exam, could be a little more strict. Some students were there just to get a degree, which could really set you off if you are there to learn. My advice is, choose your group wisely because Amity is capable of providing the necessary platform but capitalizing that is entirely up to you.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum of my department was updated to the market standards. Being a student of Master of Business Administration (MBA) it was important that our course is being updated regularly especially after the significant advancement of the IT sector. To cope up with that my department was amongst the fewest B-Schools in India to have introduced Digital Marketing as a specialization. First, two-semester covers all the general aspects of the MBA course wherein we studied about basics of all stream. After the second semester, you are expected to do a 2-3 month internship to get industry insight. It also helps you to finalize the specialization for the final two semesters. In totality, the course structure was quite thorough. From business communication to human resource management all aspects of the corporate world were touched upon. All of these helped me to be prepared for the corporate world psychologically.
Placement Experience
Amity invites companies for both internships and placements. Although, it depends from department to department. There are at least 4 departments(B-Schools) offering MBA courses, each having their own differentiating factor.
College Events
Amity, Noida is popular for its flamboyant culture. Crowded with Millenials, Amity is the hub for numerous celebrity events. Celebrities visit the campus for promoting their movies, live performances, social meetups, etc. During my batch, Amity also hosted a ted-talk show, featuring many renowned speakers from their field of expertise. Along with that, Amity's annual sports meet is called Sangathan, which features sports competitions. But the most important annual event of Amity is the Amity Youth Fest (AYF) which features live concert, competitions across different domains, modeling, dance performances, etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The entire course cost me around 6.6 Lacs which includes tuition fees and course fees. The semester wise fee structure was as follows(approx. values.): Semester 1- 1,61,000 + 15,000 (Refundable security deposit) Semester 2- 1,61,000 Semester 3- 1,71,000 Semester 4- 1,71,000
Fees and Financial Aid
I didn't opt for any scholarship or education loan. Although, Amity does offer scholarships for selected students.
Campus Life
Campus life is quite lively. Maybe, a minimum of 75% attendance was the reason behind it. The gender ratio was good in the college but it was quite poor in my department. But that's improving with more and more students moving towards professional studies. As mentioned earlier, Amity is a hub for all sorts of extracurricular activities, like workshops, seminars, debates, etc.
Alumni/Alumna
Although Amity has a quite vast Alumni network, yet my department (AGBS) had a limited sort of network. So the best opportunities like Amazon, Delloite will have a pool campus process, which involves students from different departments sitting in the process. Sometimes process itself could become tedious. During my batch, the Amazon process saw a visitation of approximately 1500 students across departments and colleges. Senior students are helpful mostly.
Admission
I approached the Amity Student Center in my hometown, Karnal. Wherein they gave me an insight into the course and fee structure. Then they explained to me about the admission process which consisted of a written test followed by a skype interview. Alternatively, one can personally visit any nearest Amity University branch to have a physical insight about the college. I gave the exam and interview in early July. It took more than a week before they told me the results. I made the payment for the first semester via online mode. Classes commenced from 29th July(though it varies).
Faculty
Faculty was also up to the industry standards have significant industry experience from different sectors. Especially the dean, Dr. Girish Kathuria, who taught us the basics of marketing management. He is the pillar stone of the department. Though, they also hire guest faculties for some designated subjects, such as Business Communication, Statistics, etc. It could be a setback for the students because some contractual employees focus on completing the course rather than teaching.
