What Students Say
Likes
- Courses were great. Loved the library. Amazing labs.
- Great mentors we had. Buildings are great now compared to when we joined because it was still under construction back then.
- We had projects that gave us excellent hands on experience on real life projects.
Dislikes
- The open notebook system. Though it was great to have a reference hand written notebook to check on, it really didn't help us in actually learning and registering information into our brains.
Course Curriculum Overview
They were typical subjects every college teaches. But what differentiates our college is we had hands on lab and projects after every year that helped get to know how things worked in industry. The exams were good except the open note book system is something i didn't like.
Internships Opportunities
There were a lot of internship opportunities available since 2nd year but we had this option to fill in our credits or to take up an internship. I chose the latter one so i didn't do any internship at University.
Placement Experience
We were seated for placements right after 3rd year. I did get a job at Virtusa with 5.5LPA package. A lot of students secured great placements in various companies and different locations with great packages.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly fees i paid was Rs.2,00,000. Every fees related to the 2nd point mentioned was covered in the fees mentioned. Other batchmates had fees greater than 2LPA bases on the category they got placed under. For eg., i got placed in the first category so mine was 2LPA. Some were placed in 2nd or 3rd or greater so their fees would be like >3LPA. I didn't have any financial aid.
Campus Life
Overall, campus life was great including the fests we had every year called Vitopia which had both sports and cultural fest. Had great time making friends, great learnings through courses, various clubs that initiated and sparked creativity in us.
Admission
I got admission into VIT in first category which is the top category we can get in from. So I chose this University. i also wrote SRM University 's entrance test but i was called in for VIT pretty early and got one of the top category seats. And my parents likes the university's promise of 100% placements.
Faculty
We had one faculty for every 2 to 3 batches of 50 students. Some faculty were quite approachable and others were not. My fav faculty were Salone ma'am, Anupama ma'am, Samuel sir. They always helped with our doubts and their teaching styles were great. Faculty i didn't like much were Nanda Gopal sir and i don't really remember the other sir's name but they were not really interesting teaching styles they had and they couldn't really clarify our doubts clearly. We had 3 CATs per semester. The fail percentage i would say was less than 10%.
