Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course as I have opted for B. Com is hs quite a well-planned and relevant curriculum. I personally find the syllabus quite understandable and comprehensive. The curriculum has a good scope for further academic pursuits as well as real-world applications. The teaching methods of the faculty well suit the course and every concept is quite clearly grasped. As we have a term-wise exam system, the syllabus is easily prepared and completed aa students have sufficient time and also have mid-term tests right sometime before the term exams which contributes to better preparation of students. The frequency and timings of exams are well settled and by the time we reach the term exams, we are already fully ready with our preparation also reinforced by various assignments for each subject given during the months preceding the examination.

Internships Opportunities

5

The internship schemes are generally for roles like sales manager, accountant, project assistant etc. I personally am not really familiar with the internship aspect but from what i read in the pamphlets posted by the staff in our whatsApp group the stipends are generally around 5k to 7k.

Placement Experience

5

There is facility of campus placement in our college and the general eligibility is after completing UG. There are many placement drives in our college by various companies and the average package offered is between 3 to 5 lakhs per annum. The most recent one i got to know about is SMG Electric Scooters Ltd. My plan is not of pursuing a placement from this college. Rather I'll begin my CAT preparation from next year and I will definitely secure a seat in IIM and pursue a placement via MBA from IIM itself.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total dues for the year 2024-25 are about 42120. At the time of admission the sum to be deposited is 9800. The dues to be charged as of September are 16160 and as of January is 16160. There are about 22 different scholarship schemes along with a 30 per cent scholarship for those with a percentage of 85 percent and above in 10+2. Eg. A. N. Kakkar Scholarship and Dr. T.R. Shingari Scholarship.

Campus Life

4

The college has frequent meetings, seminars, and camps related to various subjects, as well as student welfare. The library is well equipped with a wide range of books and journals and magazines for competition preparation. The library is a double-storeyed building filled with shelves laden with books of various related to various topics and subjects. There is also an outer study room where we can peacefully sit and do our own work since outside books and notebooks are not allowed inside the reading area of the library.

Hostel Facilities

4

I have opted for the hostel facility provided by the college. The boys hostel is situated right opposite the college campus and the girl's hostel is just beside the boy's hostel in separate parameters. So there is no need of transportation or long travel to the college as it is just a 2 minute commute on foot. Speaking about the room that i have got, it is a nice space of my own. I have opted for single person room for which we need to pay some extra amount over the basic 33600 rupee hostel fees.

Admission

I had applied for the PUCET test for admission to B.Com-L.L.B integrated course in Punjab University, Chandigarh. I didn't prepare much but by luck i cleared the test and was eligible for admission. But the course has a 4 year duration and i had no interest in the field of Law. I had only given the test as a tryout since it had a lot of similar content to basic CAT exam pattern which i had planned to give after graduation for MBA from IIM. I did not want to waste an extra year and it might even have affected my motivation towards giving CAT exam so I chose otherwise. I did not apply for any other college other the giving the PUCET. Then i found out about my current college- DAV College, Jalandhar.

Faculty

4

The faculty - student relationship is quite good as the faculty is very approachable and supportive. We have whatsApp groups solely for the purpose of solving issues of students related to academic and other matters. Our college as term wise system of examination and before the term examinations we have mid term tests approx 1.5 to 2 months before.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Firstly every course have different fee structure. As my course is BCOM so i think if you need to make some higher knowledge of commerce you should go for it because it can help you to make your overall basic knowledge good even if you don't related to commerce stream in 11th or 12th. the way of teaching in the collage is good but still some of the teachers don't have interest to teach their student in the better way. exam system in the collage is good and its difficuly level is moderate also its depend on the subject and point of view of the students

Placement Experience:

The students become eligible for enrollment into campus placements in the 2nd semester . We have been enrolled into placement classess and we will be graduating in 2023. According to the stats we have around 800+companies for placements and avg pacakge offered is 5LPA. Currently, I am not into placement so talking about the top placements and the ratio of placements will be biased. But we have been provided with top notch facilities to help develop skills and crack interview. Top recruiters - delloit, kpmg, JpMorgan etc. short internships were provided to students in their first year and with ending of 2nd year we will be doing a full force internship.
