SDMIMD and its peaceful life

The course curriculum is at par with the industry standard case study discussions conducted in class. The curriculum, since it is matching with industry standards and regular field work projects, makes it easier for students to understand the real world in the corporate. Exams are conducted at the end of the term or mid-term exams are conducted quizzes are conducted regularly to help students keep their knowledge up-to-date.

There are various companies which come for internships, Morgan Stanley which offered 50k stipend per month. Ranga Rao and sons which offered 5k per month. Ujjivan Small Finance bank which offered 20k per month. Reliance which offered 5k per month and various other companies. The companies offered marketing, HR and finance roles for an internship.

Right after the commencement of 4th trimester starts various companies start providing PPO and campus interviews. The companies which have visited have provided offers to students currently the average being 9lakh per annum. 40 students have been placed as of now which is almost 15-20 percent being placed already. I would like to work in the corporate world for few years after which I would like to start my own business.

The initial seat confirmation fee of 1lakh has to be paid for comfirm your admission within 1week of receiving the offer letter. Installment facility for fee is given 3 installments per year and the initial amount of 1lakh will be included to the fee, Second instalment of 2,56,000 has to be paid following the third instalment of 2,50,000. Total first year fee will be 6,56,000. There is no reservation based on category and every student has to go to basic interview which is divided into Group discussion, written test and final round of personal interview. The interview process is only for the shortlisted students who have given entrance exams like CAT and MAT. Various scholarships are given through government schemes and if the student has completed his/her undergraduate degree from any SDM institution he is eligible for fee concession of upto 1lakh. Once the student gets offer letter the college provides education loan support through banks like SBI,Bank of Baroda and HDFC bank.

There are various festivals which are academic related and extracurricular activities conducted while the main event of the college being Naissance which is a national level management feat inviting various students from different colleges. Every year the students have to do a socially relevant project which is a part of academic, helping students understand how the people in and around villages are being helped with various project by the government and the SDM charitable trust. Different sports events are being conducted, including football, volleyball and basketball and other sports. Along with this celebration of various festivals like Navratri and Ganesh Chaturthi also take place.

Hostel has individual sharing rooms with necessary facilities like solar heated water, wash rooms with separate bath area, parking facilities, reading lamp and study table. Meals are cooked by in-house mess staff who cook good food without compromising the quality and different food options each day including breakfast, lunch and dinner. Since the hostel fee is included in the tuition fee the hostel rooms are affordable with the facilities provided. The college is a residential college hence renting of room outside locally is not allowed, however students from nearby places can visit home every weekends.

I had applied to CMS Jain Bangalore, PES university Bangalore and Symbiosys Pune. However with few student feedback from CMS Jain and PES Bangalore I decided not to join them, when it comes to Symbiosys Pune I felt the fee structure is not financially viable for my family we we did not go with student education loan option. I choose SDMIMD comparing all the factors like faculty, placement support and the reviews from alumni students. All the students to be eligible have to complete their 10th, 12th and Undergraduate degree with not less than 60% of marks, work experience will be added advantage.

The faculty student ratio is 1:13 . All the faculties are easily approachable and each faculty is give a certain set of students for any guidance in academics. All the faculties are great specifically of names have to be mentioned Venkataraja B Sir who is faculty of Economics has a huge fan base among students for his energy level while teaching and the way of teaching with great live examples around the world, Mohammed Minaj Sir is another faculty who teaches IT related subjects with great industry knowledge and highly experienced faculty. Girish Gopal Rao sir who recently joined coming from the IT company HCL Technologies taking retirement as the VP for HCL India, again has a great knowledge on the industry and helps to guide students of pre-placement talks and other help.

Topics of GD keep changing ever year with the current affairs being given as the topic for GD and interview process. Each candidate will have to match the criteria and perform good in the interview rounds and needs to have knowledge of the subject he is interested to take as specialisation. Preparation's can be done using YouTube and other channels which help in interview preparation.

Nightlife around the college is very calm and peaceful, the gym which stays open till 8 pm and also the reading hall which is open till 9:30pm gives an opportunity for exercising and as well as reading books. Taking a walk around the campus is allowed till 11pm at night through the cool winds blowing and calm environment.
