What Students Say
Likes
- The food options gitam has is truly amazing, we have around 7 places we can sit and eat at in anytime of the college hours we want. The food is also really yummy they maintain the quality & reasonable food.
- The mentor system gitam has is really great and it also helps the student to mentally vent out to a teacher abt any issue they are facing in the college without worrying abt anything happening to them as there mentor will try to resolve the issue.
- The faculty is always available on WhatsApp and their mail which is really helpful for us to clarify any kind of doubts we have and most of the faculty is really student friendly as well and they help us a lot and guide us properly.
Dislikes
- Few of the faculty are really serious and they don’t even try to understand the students and they just keep shouting at them which is really annoying.
- Most of the times in stalls of the boys washroom are not flushed and the reason being the flushes not working at all and the management doesn’t repair those immediately.
- Because of gitam being located in such a remote area it has a lot of annoying stupid students who join college just to irritate others, like I don’t even understand how they managed to get an admission there.
Course Curriculum Overview
I plan on doing mba in finance and gitam providing the same specialisation for my bachelors really caught my interest and I wanted to join gitam for only that reason. The course curriculum is pretty decent they cover most of the topics related to the subject and the faculty explains and makes sure we understand everything which is obviously really nice. We have presentations on topics which are going on in the outside world which prepare us for public speaking.
Placement Experience
I'm sorry I can't really provide any information on this particular question as I'm only a first year student and all I saw was that the average packages of my college was eight lakhs per annum, which is pretty decent for only bachelors, but I am pretty sure they can do better because I saw that a lot of students have really really amazing talent is that because of the college they're not getting what they deserve. The students are eligible for campus selections from their final year is what I've heard from my seniors and few of the companies which visited Gitam for placements are Microsoft, Wipro, Tata consultancy, Tech Mahindra, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
For this first year I have managed to achieve a scholarship of 75% which has bought down my fees by a lot, I was given this scholarship by considering an aggregate of my GAT and PI performance. The actual Tution fee is 2.8lakhs but due to my scholarship I pay only 67k and a caution fee of 10000. I have friends who got 100% scholarships as well but most of my friends managed to get around 40-60% and they are paying around 1.2 to 1.5 lakhs. This scholarship is provided only for the first year and for maintaining it for the second year you need to maintain a CGPA of 8 minimum.
Campus Life
I can't name all the events because there are like hundreds of events happening in our college and they are done pretty frequently and each month has a minimum of at least 10 to 15 events going on and they all are amazing. These events are arranged by the clubs of the college. There are around 15 clubs, which all focus on different aspects. Few of the main clubs or Kalakriti G studio, Vastronova, etc. Kalakriti's events are personally my favourite because they have a lot of hype. They know what they have to do to entertain the students a lot. coming to the psychological provisions. Every classroom has a projector, and every teacher carries a laptop, which is from where the present articles or PPT and explain everything. Our college has amazing sports. Every single spot has a special faculty and we have all the quotes. We need to play the sport professionally and get better at it while the teachers train you. We have a student portal called G learn which is where we get our attendance. Check our day-to-day activities which are happening in college. Get notifications about any events happening. Even have a student mail where we receive if there are any holiday messages related our transport, etc.
Admission
I got into Manipal Bangalore, but I didn't go there because of the fees being really high, which was six lakhs per annum for BBA, which is not really worth pending for a bachelor and it didn't even have a specialisation. So joining gitam was good for me because I got a scholarship here which decrease my fees a lot, and I pay only 67,000 here I even applied for IIM where I got rejected because of not meeting the cut-off marks for the entrance exam. and this college is really nearby to my house. That's why it's convenient for me to travel to the college and come back home on a daily basis. the eligibility for taking the entrance exam for my college was that you had to have a minimum of 60 percentage in your inter and you have to pass the entrance exam and the personal interview, which is taken after the exam, and if you perform really well in both of these year awarded with a scholarship according to the aggregate score of your performance. for me. The admission experience was really great because I didn't really face any issues. The test was easy for me. The interview went really well and even the faculty who were arranging everything help us a lot and guided us properly when the exam was going on.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is decry I guess as it's 1 to 60 is what I think and still they manage to get time out for us properly and clear out our concerns without any hesitation. My favourite faculties are saqib khan sir, Rana jee sir and sushmitha pareek maam they teach me social, business and technology and introduction to humanities respectively and they are really student friendly and have some CRAZY knowledge abt their subject and they are also really great at giving the knowledge to us. Faculty I hate is Rajib debnath he is our programming faculty and all he knows is to shout and it's just really annoying how he doesn't listen to what we are trying to say. For us first year students we have have 6 exams being 3 sem and 3mid sem exams and they are pretty easy If you know your subjects but most of the student don't know what they write but for me it's pretty easy and I don't really struggle with the difficulty.
Interview Experience
The topics for our entrance test were basic maths, current affairs, and some general questions which they ask, and in the interview, we were asked to talk about ourselves for five minutes and they asked how much we scored in our 11th and 12th grade and what are parents do. The other criteria for admission is just that you talk to one of the admission heads, and I am pretty sure that I'll tell you a fee to pay and you have to pay that amount, which is basically a donation seat. I prepared for IIM entrance, so because of that, I didn't really need to prepare for this test and it was pretty basic for me because I saw complex questions for IIM.
