Course Curriculum Overview

3

The fact that I have always loved reading and speaking made me take this course. It has always been my very favourite subject since also the one in which I have always secured the best. This subject has always provided me with deep understanding of language,it's essence in today's world, value of literature in today's life, has given me critical thinking skills, and I know that it sounds simple but critical thinking is most needed for surviving in this world. Moreover as I am an undergraduate in this sub. I get to develop my communication skills, speaking skills etc. for future needs. Though I do that it still needs more development specially in my state. People do need to start taking it more seriously and our country needs to develop more career opportunities for language students except for teaching. Plus the subject will always remain mind boggling so it is more like we face migraines during exams.

Internships Opportunities

3

Currently there are a lot of msme internships coming to our college. And since I haven't tried any I don't know much about this. It's just that I have heard my seniors getting internships. And I guess most of them are stipend based. Minimum 30,000 is the starting price

Fees and Financial Aid

The university fees during admission into my course i.e. BA in English was 3800 rupees. This year readmission fees from the 2nd year was 3500. Course fees are stream wise mostly it varies only on basis of if we have practical subjects or not hence the science students are required to pay a bit more than arts and commerce students. There is one time fee i.e. readmission fees no extra charges for the course we are pursuing. There are certain government and private scholarships we do get introduced to for eg. There is UG merit scholarship for everyone who has scored more than 60% in the previous class exam(12th class), amount 10,000 per year. Then there is a similar but special scholarship program only for the minorities, amount varies according to classes, hostellites 10,000-20,000. The qualifications are similar to the above one. There is nirman shramik scholarship, for students coming from labour class families. Then is scholarship for single girl child, for orphans, etc.

Campus Life

2.5

We have certain scheduled programs and some un planned programs. Scheduled consists of the foundation day of the college held on 3rd of December everyday, women's day celebration, basant utsav held during after the festival of holi and freshers and farewell party for the students after one month from the admission of new batch and 1 month before the end semester of the last year. The library of our university is quite diverse as contains books for each and every department along with the pyqs of every exams helping the students to collect info. Though for certain departments there are not many books for students to refer through but those are developing too. Classrooms are provided with a projector like tv for virtual explanation and better understanding of the students also some departments have ACs in some classrooms. Recently there has been as upsurge seen in sports in the college campus. A badminton court, basketball court, indoor play room is also available for students.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Students from far off places those who apply for hostel are selected based on their merits. Hostel is really a safe place cause it is located close to the academic buildings hence facilitating the hostellites. Hostels are divided based on the ug,pg,PhD course. The undergrad hostel is the largest in the campus accomodating almost 500 students which is still not enough. Each room is 3-seater. Self cooking facilities are available. One can cook and eat anything at any hour of the day or night. Meal is provided two times. Bathrooms are cleaned on daily basis. Overall the facilities are really nice in a big city with such price.

Admission

I had applied to other prestigious government colleges for ug programs. But the main factor in choosing this college is that it is an all women's University right in the centre of the city. This provides me with ample opportunities and good environment. Regarding the cut off all the other universities I had applied to there was my confirmed admission. There was this Ravenshaw university,Cuttack. Utkal university(DDCE), Bhubaneswar, Etc. The admission process was simple. We have a state education website where we need to apply for as many colleges as we can. Then the if we get selected right by the first college in our list. There is no need for us to search more. If not and still we want in that college only we gotta wait for the next selection phases until the last one. Cutoffs vary from uni to uni, year by year regarding the average result of the year. After getting selected. We need to pay the fees online first,it gives us out intimation letter and then we go to the college.

Faculty

3

The faculties are overall friendly and I don't think there is any teacher whom I have disliked. The faculties teach us to be frank with them ask them doubts anywhere if we're unable to grasp or are stuck behind. In our dept. Specially our teacher's are really special. They help us to prepare for our exams along with calming us and show the right way to study and grasp materials. We practice pyqs as soon as our syllabus is over. We have 4 exams total in a year. 2 semester exams and 2 mid semester exams within gaps of six months between each end semester. The mid sem exams are quiet less frustrating in comparison to the semester exams. Mid semester exams are for 20 marks end semester are for 80 marks. But with our teacher's always along us I don't think anyone from my dept. Or batch has till now failed to clear the exams we have attended till now

The answer is a big and definite NO!! Campus placements have just become flashing cards for colleges to attract more students. They proudly say on their brochures (500 placed in Infosys,200 placed in TCS. .etc) as though it is a big deal. I think my answer is a bit biased since I studied in THE best engineering college in Karnataka, BMSCE Bangalore, but this can be extrapolated to other students too. For instance, let us take the example of three friends who studied MEchanical Engineering along with me. Let us call them Tom, Dick, and Harry. Tom and Dick were placed through campus placements in TCS in 2010. What happened to them 10 years from now.mechanical engineering so worked in a factory till 2016. Once he learned enough he started traveling and figured now was the time to follow his dreams ( his age was 25 and he did not have any financial obligations so he could quit). He started writing, and today lives peacefully in a village earning a respectable sum, writing content for anit
