- In gmc bhavnagar the academics are top notch the faculty is really good and helpful it helps you getting prepared for neet pg and other quizzes the clg is also very liberal and the staff is really nice
- The city is peaceful and the people are very sweet they care about you and help you out if you ask anything there are several events and cultural programmes as well which are really fun to attend and enjoyable it includes dance, singing, sports
- The seniors will guide you in anything and everything the girls hostel is basically doctors quarters and that's way way better than any normal hostel they give you a 3 bhk flat among 8 girls in 1st year and boys hostel is normal
Dislikes
- The infrastructure needs a hell lot of improvement the college building is almost falling apart and the lectures are held in the University building and not in college but the practicals are held in college the college building is really bad
- The city is not that much happening if you're from cities like Ahmedabad or vadodara bhavnagar is quite calm and there aren't many things to do here however you can have fun in college fests and parties
- Overall the college needs so much of improvement in terms of college infrastructure building and location even tho renovation is going on i don't think it will be as Better as the recently made gmc in our country you won't get comfort and facilities
Course Curriculum Overview
MBBS is a course which holds many harships and is filled with toughness mbbs alone is not enough in today's world and you'll need to give neet pg and other post grad exams The thing which influenced me to choose mbbs is that in pcb the best thing you can do is mbbs and that attracted me towards it to be a better person academically and personally by becoming a doctor Mbbs really teaches you alot you'll be a stronger person mindfully and academically it will show you the real world itself The improvements which should be done in mbbs is the work life balance as in internship or in pg residency you gotta work tirelessly for 24 hrs ans 36 hrs duties the work hours are 100+ hrs a week in pg you really don't get any personal time and it's really hard to balance all that The exam frequency is good enough and even more than that and as it is mbbs the exam difficultly will always be there the exams are difficult but you gotta work hard in mbbs to achieve that degree
Internships Opportunities
In mbbs you have a fixed stipend in 5th year of your course which depends on the state in Gujarat the internship stipend is around 21k now and it totally depends on state and the institute any private college won't have such internship stipend structure as it is very low there Stipend is higher in aiims and the cutoff is higher for aiims as well The internship is totally tiring as you also have to work hard for you pg entrance exams like usmle neet pg plab fmge etc so the internship duties of 24hrs 18 hrs are a hell lot of hectic You have to manage your schedule accordingly to study and work in internship equally as neet pg holds your future and how you'd be spending rest of your life in a Great pg branch or in a pvt institute with less salary and heavy fees structure There are many village visits in mbbs and quizzes to build your concepts and be academically better
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly fees are 25k and it includes other fees like hostel fees 1200 per year and university exam fees 3000 which is good enough as compared to a semi gov institute or private institute in mbbs As it is a government institute we don't have a management quota over here and fees are same for reserved candidates but they can apply for several scholarships like mysy where 50% of your college fees are paid by the government and kanya kelavni which is for girls and fees upto 6 lakh are paid by government in any gmc, private institute There are other scholarships as well which are not government aided but has some peculiar criterias like annual income of family should be less than 6 lakh and class 12th percentage 60/70/75/80+ depending on the scholarship which offers upto 1 lakh per year
Campus Life
There is a annual function in college named genesis which is a cultural fest for around 5 days which includes several activities like dancing, singing, sports, garba events, movie nights, mismatch, night outs and so much of fun it is held around in may every year We also have a freshers party every year for juniors for different types like for Ahmedabad for patidars for surat etc The reading room here in gmc bhavnagar is really nice and the environment is so good for studying it also has so many great books for mbbs The facilities aren't really nice in the college but the university is better where the classes are held currently The reading room has ac and the University lecture hall has digital projector and other facilities are available in the college like bones specimens cadavers There is a student run group for improvement and well being of college students named msa bhavnagar which was also responsible for getting the repairing order from government
Hostel Facilities
As in a government college hostel fees are minimal so the hostel cost is 1200 per year the girls college is totally great they provide a quarters of 3bhk among 8 people 2 in hall and 2 in 3 rooms each along with 2 washrooms in the flat and there are 3-4 such flats on each floor the view from the balcony is also very nice and you can clearly see the entire college from there you can also decorate your room according to your needs you can also draw on walls stick paintings and frames on it and you fan customise the room according to your needs The mess quality is really bad but the canteen is good enough and you can also get a tiffin service available also a laundry service available which is a good option when you don't have higher costs for hostel and mess If you don't like the hostel you can also rent a room or pg nearby the college also the hostel is like 5 mins from the college so it's really comfortable
Admission
I applied to all the government colleges of gujarat and this was the college i got into i also applied for some semi government colleges like gmers sola and gmers gotri I got admission in gmers sola and i didn't go there because of some reasons like it is a semi government institute with a annual fees structure of 3.75 lakhs and a management quota also exists there after giving neet you aim for a government college and you need not to pay such hefty fees for your comfort and facilities even if you're getting a gmc in a village it's good enough than anything as the government is paying so much on you as a reward of clearing neet ug examination I didn't get admission in all other government colleges rather than gmc bhavnagar because of the neet scam this year ans such sky high cutoffs but I'm satisfied enough that i atleast got a gmc i didn't even apply in all india quota as i didn't wanna go out of Gujarat so in Gujarat we only have 6 government colleges and other are semi gov clgs
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is really good the batch is of around 200 students and we have adequate faculty for that which are highly qualified and experienced The faculty are always willing to teach you better so to attend the lectures becomes even more interesting As it is mbbs there will be many exams like weekly exams term exams and university exams and you also get sufficient time to go on a trip after the exams are finished In mbbs passing the exam is itself like a task and a big achievement but in general category rarely any student gets failed and if you study throughout and consistently you can't fail your exams but if you do it's not a big deal
Other Applied Colleges
GMERS Medical College and Hospital | Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
As we all know gmers sola Ahmedabad is a semi government college and it might be good enough in terms of hospital capacity and other things but it cannot beat any government medical College as the benefits of getting a government college are top notch whe
