What Students Say?
Likes
- The quality of teachers and their knowledge is very important when it comes to IT sector, and to be very honest our college provides best in class
- There are so many different clubs in which someone can join.
Dislikes
- I feel like we are just remembering and wrting it out in the papers like we used to do in school time. I don't feel like growing.
- Some hostel that college provides are far from the campus which makes the students very uncomfortable to travel 7days a week.
Course Curriculum Overview
The things that influenced me was that we were to be taught more than 6 different computer languages. It really has the potential to make someone well prepared for a high-end tech role. I think subjects such as environmental science, which are not relevant to the course at all and which werw taught to us from childhood in our schools should be dismisses and new subjects such as AI and Machine Learning should be added. Frequency of exams are really comfortable according to their difficulty. And the timings of exams varies from course to course.
Placement Experience
If someone is pursing BCA then at the final year they will be eligible for campus placements. Otherwise if doing Btech then from 3rd year they will be eligible. The highest package ever made was 45 lakhs per annum. More than 2000 companies come each year and offers very comfortable packages for deserving candidates. Around 80-90% students get placements with a decent salary package. My plans are to do MCA after BCA.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The college didn't break down the fee structure. The semester wise fee of my course BCA at SOA is Rs. 75,000, which comes to an yearly fees of Rs. 1,50,000. As BCA is a 3-year program, the complete 3-year fees of the course will be Rs. 4,50,000. As for BTECH students, there are few friends of mine who said the fee structure for 4yr btech course comes out to be in between ?4,70,000 to ?5,70,000.
Campus Life
There are no fest happening in our college for a long time, and the reason is unknown. But when it comes to other events such as any sports or tech events then they are top notch. The central library provides all kinds a books. A book lover would really feel like heaven there. Each classroom has projectors for digital education. Students running in clubs, social-groups maybe fijd it difficult to handle but it is manageable if someone tries to.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are really nice. The food is nice. And whenever I had any problems I just filled out the form and within 24hrs the problem is fixed. Although the hostels are quite expensive as compared to other collges but it provides flexibility and comfort.
Admission
I chose my college because it offered a well-rounded balance of quality education, infrastructure other colleges had decent facilities, this one provided advanced computer labs, high-speed internet access, and a well-stocked library, which I felt were essential for my studies. The hostel facilities were also comfortable and close to campus. Being only a 15-20 minute walk away from classes saves me time and energy.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is quite impressive as SOA has more than 500 faculties. Faculties all very nice, very well educated and very friendly. They even invite students to their cabin if anyone faces any difficulties in academics. My favorite Faculties are Swati Sucharita Roy mam, Jeevan Jyoti Mahakud Sir, Soubhagya Kumar Sahoo Sir, Supriya mam, Anindita Chakrabarthy Mam and one and only our Pallavi mam. here are only 2 exams - Mid Semester exams and End Semester exams. The mid semester exams are usually tougher than end sems. Around 20% fail to clear each exam. Course curriculum is little old but its changed from2024
