Remarks

The crowd is mixed. Who are you choosing is completely dependent on you. There are idiots and there are bright students as well. You are smart and old enough to choose what is right for you. Some faculties as I've mentioned earlier are an irritation but again it all depends on how you deal with the conditions.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

There are, on average 8-10 subjects, depending on the curriculum. The schedule is hectic. Believe me, someone who says that Amity is a place to have fun is either an ignorant idiot who is not at all concerned about his/her future or a person who is having a safe side to continue the family business. Classes start from 9:15 and last till 17:15 generally. Like I am in my 04th semester right now and we have classes from 9:15 to 17:15 daily except on Thursdays ( will discuss more on this in later sections). Apart from the core subjects like Microbiology, Plant science, animal science and many others which vary in each semester, subjects like Behavioural sciences, English and a foreign language are also taught. I find these subjects unnecessarily burdening us. Well, that's my personal opinion as many students love these as such subjects are scoring. Coming to the examinations, minors (class tests) are held during the semester (1 minor per subject) and the datesheet is decided by the class apart from the assignments(1 per subject). End term examinations (Finals) are held at the end of each semester.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements are average. Packages offered are of average 2.5-4 LPA. Major recruiters are Cryogene, Biocon and many other companies including many startups. Just a piece of advice: Don't join Biotechnology (in any Pvt. Or Govt. College) if you are looking for a job with a high package just after graduating. Internships are to be done by the students. LoRs are provided if you are a decent student. In the first two years, in house training is done and then you may join. However, if you have the knowledge, you can apply to various places. P.S.- I did an internship in a governmental institute in the field of ecology in my 1st year.

College Events

3.5

There is an event every Thursday and that is why classes get over early on the same. The biggest event is the Amity Youth Fest (AYF) which is also the biggest college fests in Delhi NCR. I haven't attended any of the AYFs as I don't like to kill time (my personal opinion) in such events but I know that celebrities like Raftaar, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Parineeti Chopra, Daler Mehndi, etc have come. Also, National level conferences are also held where Company CEOs and scientists come and have discussions. I have attended these and these are really great sessions.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee is on the higher side. For my course, (2017-2022 batch), the total fees are 13 lakhs. But, education loans are there to help you out. Compared to other colleges, the fees may be higher but the services you get are decent.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Scholarships are there. If you get 91% or more in class 12th then 100% fee waiver. Then from 88-90%, 50%. This is for the first semester only. For the later semesters, your class performance matters. If you are amongst the top you get scholarships. Other government scholarships that fulfill the different criteria as laid down by the university can also be availed.

Campus Life

5

Labs are well maintained. All equipments are there. Some equipment is less in number but can be managed. Sports activities are there. The annual Sports meet viz. Sangathan is held from August to late October or early November. The selections are transparent and solely depend on your talent and skills.

Alumni/Alumna

No ragging at all. The seniors are very, very helpful. Just don't get in any committee or club is my advice to all my juniors if you are here to study. These things are a sheer waste of your precious time. Use that time to study or participate in events outside the college.

Faculty

4

This is a very important aspect of any institution. Here at AIB(Amity Institute of Biotechnology), we have very, very knowledgeable faculties as well as faculties which are of no use. In any case, we have to study on our own and the faculties are always available for help outside the class.

Campus placement is not that good. Hardly 2-3 companies come here for foodtech. But there are job opportunities for this course. It is a growing field. Outside the campus, if applied in any company, there are chances of selection based on the skills and knowledge one has related to the field
