What Students Say
Likes
- Lectures, they take lectures and practicals on regular basis, sometimes they might get delayed due to late arrival of the professor but they do happen.
- Instruments for performing every practical are available and in good condition
- The infrastructure on this college is damn good. There are two buildings and both just feel like I am somewhere in foreign.
Dislikes
- Hostel food sucks to be honest. It’s very unhygienic and I would prefer eating pizzas every day rather than eating this junk. Not to mention the cooks are a bunch of hypocrites as they prepare separate food for themselves.
- Some students are very annoying. My whole batch is filled with narcissistic idiots with high levels of attitude. There’s no one to keep them in line and thus, once there was a fight between some of them.
- Some false promises were made to us that we’d be getting a new hostel sooner and here I’ve finished my first whole year and I am living in the same shithole.
Course Curriculum Overview
Well actually, I had no plans to pursue medical course until I was in 10th. My dad and granddad kinda influenced me to pursue this and here I am. In the first year, we are required to dissect a cadaver (the whole year) to learn about various aspects of human body. In the second year, our clinical posting begin and we have to learn with living bodies/patients here. I can't suggest any improvements in the education but I think atleast they should send the presentation they prepare so students can go through them rather than reading the book finding topics. We have exams every 3-4 months of time interval and their difficulty level varies in my opinion and experience.
Internships Opportunities
In my course i.e MBBS, we are required to apply for internship for a year in the same hospital. Internship isn't mandatory for all and those who are interested can apply. As of now, they pay interns the amount of 19,000 in my state and it may increase in the future.
Fees and Financial Aid
As you see, I am a MBBS student studying in a private medical college. Since most of the private colleges have high fees, my college is no exception so we have to pay 7,85,000 yearly. There are some scholarship perks available to some selected students who fit the category but I don't due to high income of my parents. Fees are same for everyone irrespective of category or gender. Some students with very low income may opt for freeship card in which the government pays for them all 4.5 years of course, this only includes the tuition fees.
Campus Life
Festival celebrations are held here regularly as the festival arrives. Recently, we'd be having navratri celebrations. There's a whole library in my college where latest edition of every book in my profession is available as far as I know. They lend us the books for a particular period of time. We can even extend the time by paying. The classrooms have the capacity for more than 150 students and are air conditioned. They have a projector, a computer and a mike system with speakers across the classroom. Sport activities happen twice in our whole of a year. There are various sports and other activities.
Hostel Facilities
Well, the answer to this question is going to be a rant about how my hostel sucks. We were promised a two sharing room but we are told to adjust in a three sharing room with increased fees. We are provided a room with a bed, pillow, a study table with a chair, two safes and bathroom between three students. I don't know even if they care about our health and hygiene, the meal here sucks. The cooks here don't even consume what they cook. Registration process here is quite simple as we have to fill a form, then we have to go to the college for a sign from a official there and return back to submit it and then have to pay the fees. They would showcase the room and describe about the facilities.
Admission
Well there are a lot of reasons for me applying to this college. This college is close to my home town which is around 80km. The fees here is less compared to other private colleges. My uncle lives in the town my college is and thus I can seek help when needed. I was getting another college which I didn't apply for because it was way too far from my hometown. It's true I didn't get the desired college. The whole story is that I was getting that college in the first round of admissions. But the round was cancelled due to some government shenanigans and thus and I couldn't clench that college in the revised round. The merit also rised in further round and thus I missed it. The admission process requires you to fill in some forms and submit your documents including aadhar card, caste certificate, NEET UG result, 12th marksheef etc.
Faculty
I've studied one whole year in this college and the faculties in first year are damn good, probably the best of all. The professors are very calm and responsive. They take revision classes on demand. Especially the anatomy faculty is best and our HOD sir is very helpful to students. They even let the attendance issue pass for some students. I am currently in second year and I've heard from my seniors that microbiology faculty sucks with every professor being strict. There are four main exams throughout the year which are, first internals, second internals, the preliminary exam and the university exam which is the required exam for promotion. You require 75% attendance in theory and 80% attendance in practicals for qualifying for university exams.
