Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose this course to be able to do Masters in clinical embryology. To be honest I dint know this course even existed. It was supposed to be a simple course, as I thought, but it isn't. There is a lot of different subjects and topics and a variety of courses that come under medical laboratory technology. There are a lot of practicals which makes it even harder as we already have so much to study in theory. The theory subjects are not a joke. We have all the difficult subjects in a sem and it is hectic. I want them to split it evenly as to we get an easy and hard instead of making an entire sem easy or hard. There is so much to learn that it gets overwhelming at times. Our classes are held in different buildings too which is a headache as we have to keep shifting classes each period. I want them to keep breaks in between so we can get some rest between classes instead of giving us continuous pressure.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Internship is provided in KMC for us. Since mahe certificate has a lot of value, getting an internship anywhere will be easy. But with that we have to get our grades and develop the skills needed to work.

Placement Experience

4.5

There is campus placements. As much as we know, mahe promised a 100% campus placement after finishing the course here. The average salary as per my knowledge is 15,000 rupees which is low for a lab technician. The work hours are long and I think they deserve a lot more

Fees and Financial Aid

I took the course B.Sc MLT and the total fees for this is a little more than 4 lakhs. In first year the fee was 1,36,000 and gradually keeps decreasing as there is no caution fee payment. I'm in NRI category so I paid 1,86,000 for the first year which also includes 200 usd as caution fee. For NRI category there are less scholarship opportunity but I did get a 10% scholarship which is 18,000 INR. To be honest I wish we had more scholarship opportunities since I did get above 80% in boards and the same for my friend in general category and she got a 40% scholarship. We pay 50-60 thousand more than the general category for everything which includes tuition, mess and hostel. There are a lot of scholarships for general category but very less fo us which feels unfair since we've worked hard too and we have no scholarship and barely any benefit. I'm the only NRI student in my class so I can see the huge difference inthe fees I pay and what they are paying to attend college.

Campus Life

4

There are a lot of clubs. It is difficult to get into committees as I've tried for one but dint get in. But other than that there are anlot of opportunities to get into different clubs and join competitions. Library has a variety of books available. It is a little difficult to find the exact book we need but there are varieties we can choose from.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Facility is mid foor the fees I'm paying. NRI fees is a lot but the furniture and storage provided to us are limited. Mess food is not great. It has the same menu every day of the week and doesn't change. The only good food is when there is end of month. PG or a flat is cheaper but a mess taken would be recommended as mess fee is fairly cheap.

Admission

I dint apply to any other college as I was forced to stay near my home town. I dint have an exam since I'm in NRI category and got my admission order within a week of application. I had to pay right fter getting the order and then it just kept progressing

Faculty

4

Since we have a less number of students , each one of us gets attention and they'll clear our doubts on spot. The faculties are very friendly and provides a comfortable atmosphere where we can be open to them about anything. They help us and give us tips and counsel us when we need anything. I don't hate nay of the faculties. They are good people but they can teach better. They just read ppts, except some, and leave. We can do that too if they provide us the notes. They don't give notes and expect us to be perfect in exam which I have a problem with because the portion taken one day before exam is included. The exam system is good. We have 2 sessionals and then end semester exam. Internals are given on the basis of our sessionals, assignment and assesment grades. It is fairly easy to clear the exams if we study and passing is pretty easy if we know the topics. The faculties are like our parents and hey guide us well. It is nice to have friendly faculties around us.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Aspects that made me choose this course : The course has strong clinic focus. It gives early ward postings and lab skill training. The mix of theory and clinical work made me choos it. The course gives hands-on skill in wards and lab. We learn case study, care plan and drug chart. It also improves our critical thinking skills during intervention. Areas to improve : More skill lab time can be added. More demo with new tech will help. More group talk snd case based learn can imrpove study. There are 2 internal exams each sem and one final exam. Exams are fair and needed daily study. They are not very hard if we prepare well.

Placement Experience:

Placements in our college are available, but they are average and not very high level. The college conducts campus placement for our course, mainly in hospitals and related healthcare sectors. Many students get placed through college, but package is usually basic or entry-level. It is good for starting career and gaining experience.

As for the exam each year is consist of two semesters, and each semester have two IA exam which coming up of the end semester eaxm.
