Dislikes
- The timing of the classes are not proper. Usually there's a huge gap between two classes. The classes aren't conducted back to back.
- The library teachers does not allow students to physically enter and read books. Most of the times the books aren't available.
- The college conducts way too much events due to which it becomes difficult for both the students and teachers to complete the syllabus. The students are mostly engaged in organizing due to which they miss classes.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course which I had opted for gave me knowledge and understanding which I lacked. I was living on my own bubble before the college. But after entering, I got a glimpse of the real world and how important it is to come out of the comfort zone in order to flourish in life. Although the teachers are friendly, but some of them need to be more patient with students and not abuse or threaten with words due to which the children hesitate to come to college. The classroom should be of such vibe that students can become motivated to visit it. The exams are never conducted on time. Its as if the university is toying with the life of innocent students. Its an appeal from the students to please focus on not exceeding the course period of the students.
Fees and Financial Aid
Per year the fees for arts student is upto 6000 (tution fee - 1500, Admission fee - 14, Maintenance fee - 1000, College exam fee - 400,Honors fee - 240 etc). The fees structure differs from one department to the other. Although the minority students receive scholarship from the government of Jharkhand of Rs 9000-10000 per year which also again differs from course to course. The name of the scholarship is E-kalyan.
Campus Life
The college organizes various events and competitions of each field such as sports, art and craft, singing, dancing, photography etc. “Satrang” is known as one of the biggest festivals celebrated by the English department. Apart from that there are also movie screenings, workshops, speech competitions, debates. These facilities help to bring out potential students who are looking for an opportunity to showcase their talent and take it to another level. The winners are awarded for their excellence which gets printed on the local newspapers as well. There are groups such as 'Women Cell', 'SPARC', 'NCC'. The classrooms have digital boards, desktops, projectors and some of the classrooms have A/C as well. The library has a huge collection of books, however the librarians do not allow to enter the library. Rather the students are asked to write names of the books which they need in a piece of paper based on which the books are taken out and lent to them.
Hostel Facilities
The city is overcrowded due to which the rooms are not proper. There conjusted room with no proper ventilation and windows which makes the rooms over heated. There are also hostel and lodge facilities with a/c as well as non a/c rooms. The accommodation is very expensive. Owners and agents charge unnecessarily and scam students ruthlessly in the name of security deposit, advance and other charges. For a single room with separate bathroom and kitchen, one has to have 5000-6000 which is not everyone's cup of tea. There are mess facilities as well which is again not upto what they charge. These mess owners don't even provide sufficient food and charge 3000 per month. I rented a room near Sakchi, Gurudwara which costed me 5000.
Admission
I had applied for several colleges across the country but couldn't go due to the after waves of the pandemic. Even inside the state I applied for colleges like St, Xavier's College Ranchi, Tata College Chaibasa, Sai Nath University, Jamshedpur Women's College and many more. Out of all the other colleges I opted for the present college because when I went on a tour to the current college, the behaviour and kindness of the faculty members attracted me to join this college. The teachers are very helpful. Inspite of the admission proces being so lengthy, the teachers helped us in every step where we were getting stuck. Half of the admission process was online and the other half was offline.
Faculty
The teachers are friendly and well educated. From my personal experience, I had great interaction with Prof. Basudhara Roy, Dr. Neha Tiwari and Prof. Saket Kumar. Their conducted classes in an interactive way which made the students easier to understand. More or less, every other teacher is equally good.
