What Students Say
Likes
- The freedom and liveliness of the campus. In no way you'll find the campus to be restricting or lacking. It provides the basic needs of the students quite well.
- The student body, you'll find the students being independent and engaged in entrepreneurship and moving forward. Easy to talk and make connections as a student.
- Support from the teachers and staff. Have your own idea or can innovate on something that already exists? Teachers and staff both can help you push it out. It's a blessing to have such supportive teachers pushing us forward.
Dislikes
- The teaching staff. Teachers are not adequate for the subject they're asked to teach. Well I do understand that they study on the go and teach at the same time but still the quality of teachers can be better for such a costly college.
- The management. Things feel rushed and very last minute. Our semester was rushed in a few months while the other colleges had delayed and given some time to their students.
- The way assignments and coursework is. Being a plug and play classroom and applications focused degree you'd expect more up-to-date methods for submitting coursework but no, we still follow the traditional methods.
Course Curriculum Overview
The subject relevancy and the curriculum structure are great. They're better than expected and definitely allow the student to leverage themselves to higher levels of education with ease. As someone who prior knowledge about the course before joining, I found the course to be pretty easy to understand while still being modern and up-to-date with the latest trends in the job market and outside world.
Fees and Financial Aid
In the first year at PCACS, the admission fees for the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) course was 75,550 Rs. altogether. Where the tuttion fees was 36,810 Rs., caution money deposit was 150 Rs., enrollment fee was 200 Rs., E charge & E suvidha fee was 60 Rs., development fee was 500 Rs., lab fee was 5000 Rs., exam fee was 3300 Rs. In the first year, barely any scholarships or financial aids were available. I didn't apply nor was offered any help financially. In the second year the overall fees is 78,430 Rs., out of which the tution fee is 41,490 Rs., development fee is 500 Rs., lab fee is 5000 Rs., exam fee is 3300 Rs., again no scholarships nor financial aids have been offered. Regardless of that, the fees was asked to be paid in lumpsum rather than installments as most parents would have preferred. Having the installments option should've been an option by default but you can only get the option of part payment after talking with the higher ups.
Campus Life
The on campus life is great, plenty events, great student bodies, committies, and culture. The extroverts get their events and parties. The introverts get their educational fairs and seminars. The campus life never felt lacking and the guests are always top notch in their events. Some of the most famous events are held at Pillai like Yaarian, Alegria, etc. Overall it's great and way better than others.
Admission
Many things play into the decision of picking Pillai over others. Firstly and the most common one I'd say, is the repuation and fame of the college, it's no brainer to be in a well known and reputed college than some place else. Secondly, I applied to other colleges like Ibsar and Sies but both of them felt lacking in terms of campus and educational facilities unlike Pillai which felt professional from the first step onwards. The admission process was straightforward, apply, submit documents, wait for your name to appear on the accepted list, make the payment and done.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is better than average I'd say. The classroom experiece is as one would expect but outside of that the teachers and overall faculty is great to be with. They're well versed and provide quite the help if asked for. Apart from all that the only reason one would not give them a 10 is the availability. It gets harder and harder to get a hold of the faculty as you go up the profressinal ladder.
